For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I plan on mailing 2 boxes with about 24 goody bags. I haven't talked to my son about it yet, but if he isn't interested in helping, I'll talk to his recruiter to see if I can get a name and address of someone there at the base to help take charge. I know there won't be any way to know for sure how many staff and students will be there over the holidays, but at least it will help a little to let them know we're thinking about them.

There will be hundreds, many don't take leave even when encouraged to do so. The problem is the amount of schools, the lack of coordination between them, and that the corpsman school is a separate command. You could contact the PAO (public affairs office) and talk to them. Another tactic would be to have your sailor son talk to his SDC and find out what staff will be working, and if they would be willing to help. A third way is through the chaplains, or through the civic organizations who sponsor get togethers and meals and such for the sailors. Usually churches. You could also talk to the USO about providing goodies to sailors en route through the airport.

ICmom dml: my sailor just called. he said he would be happy to help with the packages. he said they are sailors who never get any mail or packages, so he knows people to give to. I hadn't thought about talking to his recruiter, but that's not a bad idea. I too plan on sending a couple or so of boxes, those flat rate postal ones are great to use.

OK, I just talked to my son and I won't be able to mail the packages to him. He is currently in the Enterprise but he says they are going to move him to the Cole during the Christmas stand down and then he'll be moved back to the Enterprise in January. Anyway, I won't have a good address to send him any packages until after the 18th probably. I asked him to talk to his SDC but he's still so new at this, he's a little hesitant. So, I guess it's on to Plan C. I'll try to get hold of the PAO tomorrow. Thanks for that advice Anti M.
