OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I asked him if I may have a "got there safely call". He answered in the affirmative. Today it seems different for me. If I am calm and ask him for what I need, he will give it to me. He can buy his own phone card tomorrow. I will believe him and have faith. Thanks again for checking on me. I am growing as much as he is.
I just realized the time has passed for me to send any US mail to my son Oakland to Maui before he leaves for bootcamp 11/15 Oahu, 11/16 Great Lakes. Overwhelmed feeling came over me but then I remembered I have been here before when he moved out to begin his own life apart from me. He is who he is from all of the years he has been learning how to be in the world. He's a good guy who make good decisions. He's an excellent friend and loyal and perseverent. My mind, body and spirt has relaxed in a trust. If he wants this, it will happen for him. This is his journey. He is a man now not a boy. I am proud :)

My son goes to MEPS today 11/15/2010 in Oahu then to Great Lakes 11/16/2010. I am in Oakland, CA. His recruiter will take him. All his belongings are stored at a moving company and his truck is on a ship already on the ocean coming to me in Oakland. I appreciate all you comments about the journey as I am not able to see it myself. It's going to be 81 in Honolulu today and 56 in Chicago. The weather change itself will be a shocker.
My son goes to MEPS today 11/15/10 in Honolulu from Maui; tomorrow 11/16/10 he goes to Great Lakes. His truck is on a freighter for Oakland, Ca, to me and his belonings are in storage in Maui. His recruiter is his support there in Hawaii. I will imagine what is happening through your comments I have read. The temp today in Honolulu is 81 and Chicago 56. That should be a shocker! I have faith all will be well and good.
Today my son is flying To Great Lakes...all that is left is the weigh in and whatever else they do before they board the plane. He has been working out and has gained some weight so he is wondering whether that puts him over the weight limitations (now I'm nervous). He is in Oahu in a hotel room; I am in California and it is 0541 talking to you all. This is his opportunity for career. I am so happy for him. This is their job growing up and making their own way. I have no tears only pride. Until that plane lifts up into the air with him in it I will be holding my breath. I'm praying that all his goals will come to fruition in the Navy life that he wants so badly. To not be on that plane would be the heartache. I'm praying for all the young men and their noble goals in the Navy now.
Hi Chew92, my son is going to GL today as well, how are you holding up? I hate no knowing more than that. I hope we both hear from them soon.
