SON ARRIVED AT BOOTCAMP ON NOV 3, 2010 - LOOKING FOR OHTERS??

Today is my first day on this website. I see that is has alot of good information on it. It could not have come to me at a better time either because I have cried alot this weekend. My son, Ray, arrived at bootcamp on Nov 3, 2010. I know it has not been even 2 weeks yet, but I am having a really yough time not having any contact with my son. We are very close and I have never been away from him like this. I also found out that his division will not graduate until Jan 7th. That is very disappointing to me and his sister. I did read a little about the "ADOPT A SAILOR" for Christmas!!! Does anyone have any good information on that? I would give anything to be able to see him even if it was only a few hours.....

If anyone has any helpful information - I would appreciate any information, encouraging words from other moms that know what I am going through, or even someone that there son or daughter may be in the same group my son is in!!

God Bless all of these sons and daughters that make this choice,

Regina

I spent ALOT of time Sunday / yesterday on youtube. I searched battlestations 21, great lakes bootcamp, navy bootcamp, and so forth!! All of those were very helpful to give me a better understanding about life in bootcamp but it did make me cry just because the fact my son is there. Some of the tears were missing him, others were from how proud I am of him and others were just because I have been a emotional mess the last few days!!!! Today has been ok. Still no letter or call but I am living for the mailman to run tomorrow.
My son arrived at bootcamp on the evening of Nov 3rd and I received his formal letter that had all of the information regarding the ship, division, PIR date, information regarding a parking pass, etc... very informative letter.. make sure you don't loose it when it arrives. You should be getting it this week I would think. Good luck!!!

There is some great info on youtube. I just searched battlestations 21, navy bootcamp, great lakes bootcamp, etc.... I spent several hours just watching 5-10 minutes video clips that were very informative and helpful for me to get an idea of what each day is like for him.

I also fixed a questionnaire last night for him. I ask questions that I have been wondering about and left a space for him to respond and then all he has to do is send it back to me. I know he has very limited time and although I want him to write detailed letters to me - I know that is a slim to none chance. I thought that would be easy for him to do and I also put a self addressed stamped envelope in there and made it as easy as possible for him. I think reading the letter from their loved ones are going to give them more strength than spending what little time they have to write. I know that is probably hoe my son would cope better. PLus I know alot of friends and family are writing him plus our church family.
Hi Regina!

My boyfriend also left Nov. 3 for bootcamp from phoenix and is also in DIV 034 SHIP12. I have only received the form letter and "the box". I read over the weekend that a lot of moms/gfs got calls!! mostly from DIV 038.

Have you received a letter or call yet?? I am starting to wonder if they have a really strict RDC or if their division isnt doing so well :(
As of today (Tuesday), I still haven't received anything. I have heard from other people that sometimes it does take about 3 weeks before they receive their mail and get to send any out... even if they have been writing it. Maybe the RDCs hold onto it!!! My son is pretty strong so I jsut pray that he is doing ok. Wheher he gets my letters right away or not - I know he knows I am thinking about him.

Regina
Recieved the box today but no letter yet with his Ship and Division.

I understand his grad date is 1-12-2011 though, would that make him specific to a ship and division?
Hi everyone, My son is also in Ship 12. Div 034, I got my first letter this week. It was very upbeat and funny. He says, the food is great, the gym in massive, his uniform is awsome and that he is a pro at making his bed and folding his clothes..."thanks mom". He was disappointed though that graduation wasn't until Jan 7th, they did not officially their start bootcamp until Nov 12, even though they had been their since Nov. 2. Did anyone else get a letter?
Julia here is the link to your PIR group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir10711
I received my first letter on November 17th from him. I also got a phone call from him tonight. It lasted about nine minutes. I ws so thankful. He sounded really good on the phonr. He also said his division (034) was doing really. He is very homesick though and sounded like he got a lump in his throat a couple times while he was on the phone with me. He also said it has not been too bad other than missing home. So for everyone that has a loved one in the Division 034 - sounds like they are doing great!!!! Continue to pray for our sons and may God Bless each and every one of them and give them strength an courage to make it wach and every day!!!!!

hello everyone!! just wanted to wish you all a merry christmas!!

we are almost to PIR!

HOOOYAAAAAH!~~

Hey, My boyfriend left Nov. 30th and started bootcamp. He is div. 061 and graduates feb. 4th. However, I have not gotten a single letter or phone call and it has been 4 weeks! I am really upset by this and I am wondering why I haven't gotten anything. Anyone have any idea?
