Yikes guys! 12 out of 12 stinks; my A has always been pretty competitive - now I know why he sounded a bit bummed on Sat. talking to his GF! There are only 8 Divs in our PIR - where do we draw the other 4 Divs from for competition or is it 12 out of 12 items they get graded on, meaning they are at the bottom of the overall. A didn't mention any issues with his teeth - another question to add to my list. He had his wisdom teeth pulled (2) in March to the tune of $500 out of pocket for me. If I only would have known he was joining the Navy, I could have waited. Wink Wink!

Cindy - I would share A's last name to you in a private message. Will write to him tonight and mention the hints you gave me to see if he knows your SR. Maybe it is your SR that helped A with his inspection today! Really hoping he got a 5!
HI Lori, not sure where the 12/12 comes from "E" Said something about 3 floors, and they are on the 3rd floor, and all the other "Divisions" below them can hear them when they have IT, and they let them know 'they have been told they are the worst Div." Maybe it is all Div. over all..."E" even said...they are worse then the 'mixed' Div. (men and women combined)!!!! Yikes is right!!!! Don't think it is "competition" as the definition goes...its just something for the RDC's to scream at them about :)! I do hope my SR helped "A" ...that is how I raised him to be and the Navy is just backing me up LOL :)!! I will feel horrible if its the opposite :( ! You just never know in that kind of environment...who clicks with whom.
I got a letter from my SR today; overall he sounds good. He does say he is mentally and physically exhausted. Kind of the opposite of "sounding good" but considering the intensity of the past 2 weeks, he seems upbeat. He starts his letter "Hello Mother! What's going on?" He wrote during his liberty time on Thursday. He had passed 1 inspection last Tuesday but had another one on Friday which is the one he mentioned he didn't pass on the phone Sat. As of Thursday he does mention "so sick of some of the people here - no one wants to listen so we get our a - - es kicked over and over again. Really getting annoying." So that was last Thursday - hoping there's an upswing in teamwork news when and if he gets to call tomorrow. Other than that he was asking about me and responding to some of what I had written in my letters to him. He is REALLY looking forward to some "happy faces" on Thanksgiving and some down time. He did mentioned he hasn't been sick and feels very fortunate as many others have been sick. A week and 2 days until we head to GL to adopt him; hoping it gives him strentgh to endure another week!
Awwww That is awsome Lori! I got TWO letters today but promised my husband I would wait until he arrived home to open them :)! So, I will let ya know what mine says :)!!! I did write "E" today and told him more about "A" to see if they have bonded and are helping each other :)!
I was somewhat comforted but upset to hear "A" says the same thing about other guys in the unit...was starting to think it was just "E" :o)...sounds like the good one's are the one's that are frustrated :) :)! I am so glad you are going to see him...give him enough 'happy faces' for all of the guys that have to pull the 'slackers' to the end :)!!!

Hugs! Thanks for sharing Lori !!

Cindy
OK, opened my lettters! One was more frustrating than the other! To all the SR's in Div 024....GUYS, come on work together PLEASE!!!!! He writes on how dumb their division is and they got 2 demerits in one hour for others not keeping their mouths shut! He stated over half of the division failed (70 guys) the inspection last week (so don't feel bad if your SR did not pass)....it was a tough one he said. He passed with a 5.0 but had to go directly and wash everything...every piece of clothing in their division (since he's the Laundry PO)...but then added..."while everyone else got their A$$es kick". He doesn't mind doing the laundry...he says it helps pass the time and keeps his mind busy! He earned a "Special Collar device for recognition (Recognition for what he does not say :))! Every day his stress level changes, one minute he is confident he can do this...the next he thinks he will be set back! They got their Dog Tags and Military ID's, his has the wrong Religion on it, so that upset him. He says there is so much stuff to remember and so little time. He has stopped counting the days and closes the letter with "why"... "I have found that the less I think about tomorrow or what is to come, the faster the day goes and the better I do!"

Praying...the unit gets it together!!!

Thanks for listening! Cindy
My A can't keep track of days anymore either......same exact tone sounds like. A didn't mention dog tags / military ID. I've added to my question list! I asked A if he had received any recognition in a form letter and he circled the response "are you kidding me!" Thanks for sharing your letter. Good for him getting recognition for whatever he did! So sounds like laundry is a good diversion from the IT then! Praying double........ttyl Lori
I got a phone call; it was wonderful. He had a full 40 minutes so I took about 20 so he was able to call his GF too. He is doing really pretty well; he was tired today as he stood watch last night from 10 - midnight. Said he got a bunch of mail yesterday but didn't get a chance to read it because he was too tired after watch. He passed his inspection on Sunday - interesting, there are 2 types of inspections - one is bunk only and the other is clothes and bunk. The clothes inspection is the kicker. He got a 5.0 on his 1st one but the 2nd one he failed; did well on his recheck - whoot whoot! Still healthy; his dentist check was good - he said many, many SR's had wisdom teeth and other issues with their dental checks. Asked me to look into travel to A - he had an opportunity to do himself but he isn't sure which airport, etc. so I'm going to check with my A School N4Ms site to see which airport and if he can go directly to base when he arrives on the 27th or if he can go directly to base. He has to report at Groton at 0700 on the 28th. Asked me to get a fully refundable tix as many many are getting ASMO'd for one reason or another......says he is doing well, but you never know. Think I will look into fully refundable with the change fee if necessary - probably cheaper. Doesn't know if he has lost any weight; so tired when he does PT not sure if he is pushing himself enough to lose weight - I don't know how he couldn't be. Fitted for uniforms yesterday. Talked about HELL week coming up. I think that's it.......he knows the Laundry guy and he knows "Wonka" the NUKE guy. We are looking forward to seeing him next week and getting some face time - I know its a gift and we feel truly blessed. I wish each of you had this opportunity; one of the blessings of living so close. I hope each of you talked to your SR today!
YEAHAAAAW!!! I got a phone call too, However, I could not even hear him (bad phone on his end), and I was at work so I couldn't YELL back in the phone :) ....I know he was asking for flight information to be sent to him and prices on fully refundable tickets as well! He also needed the directions too and from the base from home so he could report the 'distance' he would be traveling...UGHHH!!! SO I quickly ran off all the info and ran to the post office before they closed. Hope they don't Deni him to travel home with us after PIR! He will only be staying home for one day...seems like a waste, but we cannot afford to travel to FL to be with him for the Holidays...which would be our choice! I'm glad to hear "A" knows the laundry guy :)! Hope that's a good thing LOL!!!!

Thanks for the update Lori...bet your on cloud 9!

Hugs, Cindy
WONKA - Thats my boy! LOL too funny I was told they are calling him Wonka, because he sings lots LOL - never sang at home....
cakes - I know - don't you love it; should have asked A if he has a nickname? I did forget to say happy birthday to him today - feel pretty bummed about that :-( I just didn't think..........

Cindy - glad you got your phone call! I'm probably getting a non-refundable and will pay the change fee if necessary; its cheaper. A needs his travel itinerary as well from GL to home. I had heard that this is due December 7 from 2 N4Ms today. So don't fret. I'm surveying a couple of other N4Ms on travel to Groton before I choose his flight. There is an hour drive from the airport to Groton so trying to figure out this leg of the trip too. You'd think.....the number of SRs traveling to the bases, this information would be well laid out on the base website. It isn't. It gives me airport options but doesn't say much about getting from the airport to base and what time he needs to be there to get properly checked in - I'm trying to get him there (arriving base) by mid afternoon the day before he is to report. Being a Military mom takes a degree!
Lori - when was/is his BD?... dont beat ur self up, its happens to the best of us BD celebration in GL next week... - Yes I agree about the stress of getting our boys to A school and on time too... we have decided to drive S....
Lori - if it makes things easier - fly him into Long Island, he can stay w/ me and I will get him to Groton.. Long Island McArthur Airport.. - I can drive him to the Ferry and get him to Groton..
