Hello!
I just recieved 3 more letters yesterday, and his mom called me saying she had some for me too :) I'm going to go get them today. And, yes, he has received the very first of my letters.
Also, I'm pretty sure he took stamps with him, but am also pretty sure that they are available there. You can send stamps with your letters! I'm getting my senior pictures printed this week- can't wait to start sending those :D 35 more days! :D
Navygirlfriend that is wonderful, enjoy your letters and your day,
I'm so happy for you!

Kim
I actually just sent my sailor a book of stamps and 500 minutes (calling card or whatever) He told me that he was running low on stamps, so in a new york second i went to the store.

:D i'm so excited. i'm flying up there with his dad and sister, and our bestfriend on the 20th, tickets were literally $500 cheaper if we flew in a day early..

aww i bet he'll enjoy that navygirlfriend..

And it's great news knowing they are getting their letters, i've been really antsy not knowing if he has or not :(
I'm sure he'll appreciate that imstasny :)
And, I am too!! 35 more days, thats not so bad haha.
I'm flying with my boy's Mom and Dad on the 19th. That's about how much my tickets were... then again we are flying from Oregon.
So so so excited for graduation. Already planning what to wear and such haha
I'm flying all the way from texas, so :)
i'm so excited, it's crazy :) and honestly, i've already been deciding what imma wear myself :D
i'm so happy they geet to come home with us too right after :)
Oh haha.
Yeah, i wish my boy could come home... but our return home ticket isn't till the 2nd of January, when his leave expires :( his parents didn't want him to come home becuase somehow they thought that would be best for him. They really don't want him to take his leave time so he has more after A school. Which doesn't make sense to me because he's earned it after boot camp, after all that hard work. I dk... I know he really wants to come home to see all his friends and stuff too, so I'm sad for him :(
Navygirlfriend, it will be ok. This is probably the last time that his parents must pay for his traveling. Afterwords, he will be able to pay for his own travel arrangements and can go and come when and where his heart desires. According to what my son told me, they will have only earned 5 days of leave in boot camp. However, they can take 10 days, but will owe it forward. My son opted to only use 5 days so that he can come home after "A" school with the remaining 5 days. I am not going to say that parents know best, but what I will tell you is that once he graduates, he will probably take more control over his life.

Kim
Thank you, and I know :) How is your son taking just 5 days leave? So does he get those 5 days and then the other 5 days are like liberty, or does he ONLY get 5 days total? What I thought was that for 5 days they could opt to return to the base every night and go by the liberty rules (50 miles, etc) and then after that they could take their 5 days leave?
Navygirlfriend, My son is taking it ok. But then again, it is not here yet. He will feel it when the five days are and he must leave again. He could have opted to take the 10 but he decided to only take 5 and utilize the other 5 after "A" school to return home again. He misses his daughter. He told me in his last letter, that he had a root canal scheduled for Monday, Nov. 15th., and I have not heard from him since, as he did not call this weekend at all. This was the first weekend since bootcamp that we did not hear from him. I'm just glad that they are learning how to march finally, one less thing that they have to focus on, now they can move on to something else.

Trying to figure out what to wear since it is so cold there. In Virginia, we rarely wear coats in the winter time and now I have to find something comfortable but warm to wear to Alaska...... I meant Great Lakes.

Kim
Oh, what I meant was, what will he do with the other 5 days? Or is there no other 5 days? It's kind of a confusing question, but what I mean is- I'm going to be in Illinois for 2 weeks, because I thought my boyfriend would get 10 days, whether it be leave or liberty. But if they don't take the extra 5 days leave, do they have to go straight to A school or something? I'm just wondering because then I'd be stuck in Illinois for an extra week...

But , ouch on the root canal. In one of my letters T told me he got a filling, but I think thats it. I have not recieved any calls :( But thats good that you did.
I used to live in Upstate New York so I remember what those crazy winters are like haha. But I've been living in Oregon for a while so it'll be a change. Lots of layers and scarves!
I've never been to the midwest though- I'm excited!
Got a call today :D right before i walked into work, it was a 'unknown name unknown number" and sure enough, it was him! i got to talk to him for thirty minutes, and it made everything bearable for me. he told me he was getting his letters. The only dental work my boyfriend told me about was getting his teeth whitened. he said he was gonna try n call saturday, so i can't wait :)

My boyfriend also said he's taking his 10 days because he wasn't gonna be able to take leave after A school or something. I'll have to sneak a visit when he's in Pensacola :)
Navygirlfriend, the additional 5 days are probably earned after A school and it may depend on his assigned area when and how they can be taken. I am not quite certain. But I do know that they can take the 10 effective 12-22 but most don't want to as they dont want to be in the hole. The plan for my son is to take his additional 5 days to come home after A school so he an see his wife, baby and the rest of the family.

My son got his root canal done Monday and I have not received a call from him in a couple of weeks so I guess he is ok. Matter of fact, I know he is ok.

I too am from New York but have lived in Virginia since 1989 so I consider myself a Virginian. I cant take the cold in New York so I know the cold in IL is going to kill me. My husband said the cold weather in IL is like no other cold in the US. So,, I am coming prepared!

Kim
