My son left 11/09. We recieved a formal, typed four page informational document yesterday. Standard stuff but he had a chance to write just a few lines at the end. PIR date is 01/14/2011. Ship 07, Div 043.
You'll get it don't worry!! He may have had to wait for his division to fill up... who knows it could be a hundred things. If something went wrong you would have heard from him so don't worry! It will come! =]
here is the link to the PIR group for most of those who left 11/9 http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir1142011
Arrrgh.... Still waiting for the letter. Based on what I have read and heard. I would imagine his PIR will be on Jan 14...... THIS is the part that is killing me..... I want the address to send mail ( it's starting to pile up from friends and family waiting for the address.) ARRRRGHhhhh....
Yep. got the "Kid in a Box" yesterday. He sent it to his brother, whose birthday is today... Still had a sense of humor... sending his little bro' dirty underwear, t-shirt, jeans and shoes ( no socks... hmm wonder where they went.) And I just called home.... dang- no letter yet. Bet Veteran's Day messed up the mail a bit. Thought maybe his recruiter would have the addy and send it. but *sigh* not yet! ;-)
Got my box yesterday... were the pant legs all rolled up from your kiddo?
They are rolled up because they stand on a machine that measures their feet to be sure they all get the correct fitting. A lot of time they either forget or don't have the time to roll the pant legs back down before packing up their clothes!
Thanks! I was totally confused!!!
sometimes the address takes a little bit longer if they have to wait for their division to fill up. That's what I have heard anyways. I'm sure you will get it soon!
met a really neat lady in the next town over who belongs to a group called Soldier's Angels. (soldiersangels.org) Gonna get my school involved. We have representation from all military branches at our small school and I think we are gonna start something here. Great student council project to involve all classes, and also plan for next Veteran's Day. Really Pumped about it. I want to sponsor a Military K-9 myself, and was thrilled to see the "fostering " program for people to foster a pet while our Military persons are deployed. (I guess we are sort of doing that because we have our SR pooch, but she has become part of the family, now!)

I bet you are right, NS, about having to wait. There were not many sailors being sworn in at Chicago MEPS last week Wednesday. So they might have had to wait. Sure hope its the 1/14/11 though.
They come from all over the US but still.. you never know when the division will fill up. It's very likely the 14th though. Let me know when you find out!
My dad and husband were both in the Navy. We knew there would be people from all over. Husband is anxious to see GL to see how much things have changed. ( saw the youtube video and was amazed at what he saw) Dad passed away 2 years ago in Oct, but I know he is my son's guardian angel. (they were like 2 farts in a skillet!)
