For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I think my son basically checked in and got assigned a room and not much else. The next couple days were spent attending briefings, but with GC coming to a standdown this afternoon until after Thanksgiving your sailor's routine could be different. I am sure they will make sure he/she is taken care of for Thanksgiving. I know that my son was excited to find out that he could wear civillian clothes for the Thanksgiving weekend. The first time since he arrived at bootcamp. Of course, he is going to have to buy some that fit first. :-)

They should allow him the same time off as everyone else for thanksgiving break right? I mean its not like they are holding the briefings during the holiday and stuff..

Really? It was my understanding that they aren't allowed to wear civvies for about a month after they start school? I am sure my daughter would have mentioned any shopping she has done.

I think they can wear civilian clothes when they aren't in public or on base... so pretty much at someones house or in a hotel room

That is true, but being brand new in Goose Creek there probably aren't too many private houses they are visiting. Until they are phase 2, they have to be in military issued clothing in public. After phase 2, they can dress in civvies and leave base to go into town, etc.

Hello to all!!
Diego got his phone on Tuesday this week and he calls Kelsey all the time. He and I have been texting and it is so good that we can do that now. He hasn't been doing a whole lot, on hold for "classing up." He did tell me that some of the guys "classed up" on Tuesday, so hoping he will next week. With Thanksgiving it may change things a bit. The weather in S.C. has been beautiful, he and some guys have gone to the beach and the pier, there is a Cruise port in the area and they went that way. Much nicer weather than in Michigan right now....................
It is so good to be able to chat again, missed everyone. Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving today!! We also celebrate Kevin's Birthday and mine was on the 16th. We did some family time in GL and it felt so good to have all of us together again. We miss that, but they do grow up and we have to let them go....................*sigh* -
