BattleStations will be held for each division during the last week of boot camp.  As it gets closer, we will try to get a schedule together of when each division goes.  This info will come strictly from your recruits.  They won't know this early, but they should start getting dates by early December.

Brother divisions always go together.  Brother divisions in your PIR group are as follows:

Div 19 + 20

Div 21 + 22

Div 23 + 24

900 divisions (since you have 2 of them...unusual)

The 800 and 900 divisions normally don't have brother divisions.  They can possibly go together, or each might tag on to some brother divisions.  In your case, since you have two 900 divisions, they most likely will go together because I believe they are considered brother divisions.

This is an overnight drill and when it concludes, your recruits are sailors!  There is a capping ceremony where they trade their recruit ball cap for their sailor cap.

Here is a great link that explains what they do during BattleStations:

There is also a brief video at www.youtube.com

Put in, "CNN BattleStations 21" to locate the video

****Battlestations Schedule******

Thank you, Dianne. I will check out the link. I can't believe that they are almost halfway through now.
Thank you, Dianne. I have checked out the CNN video and the official Navy one as well. I did not know about the brother divisions. Thanks for the heads up.
Is there a list somewhere as to the divisions? i have heard some say they areperforming divisions i would like to find out what the different divisions are. My son is in 23
Aim, if you go to bootcamp.navy.mil , then under family and upcoming graduations , they list the divisions and their PIR date. Most of the divisions are general except the 900 divisions which are performance divisions ( band, choir, rifles, flags, staff) and 800 divisions which are special forces such as air sea rescue, seals, etc and usually have a longer and more strenuous boot camp. Each PIR group usually has one 900 division. All the 900 divisions are on Ship 2 and I believe the 800s are on ship 1. There is not a 800 division every PIR. All the divisions seem to be numbered sequentially. My SR is in div905, PIR 12/17. The next PIR on 12/22 has division 906. And now that I have you thoroughly confused, I'm going to bed.
Aim,

The divisions in the 12/17 PIR group are 019, 020, 021, 022, 023, 024 and 904, 905.

And as you can see from Betsy's post, this is one of those unusual PIR groups that has two 900 divisions....they should go together for BStations since I think they are treated as "brother" divisions.
I have started a BStations schedule above with the announcement that 904 will go on Wed, Dec 15th. I will add to it as you all post from your recruits. Post on here and on the main board please so I don't miss it!
Since 904 is on Wed and I will be in the air on Thurs, I will miss the "I'm a Sailor" call
Wendi, change your cell voicemail to greet your sailor that day. Ask that many messages be left so you can get them all when you land. Not as good as talking to them directly, but you get to hear your sailor's voice!
Hi Wendy - My son PIR'd on 11/12, and he did his BS on Tuesday so fortunately we weren't traveling yet. One thing to keep in mind, is some times the calls don't come until later in the evening...I think mine came at like 6pm Eastern time. Hopefully you will be on the ground when you get the call, there is nothing like it. Except PIR itself!
Thanks, Diana, I can't wait for that call!

Betsy
Ladies, just know that the dates on the schedule are "tentative" dates...meaning that we like to hear from more than one mom before confirming. Sometimes the dates can be conflicting. The important thing to know is the date they START BattleStations because that is the date we post. It is an overnight drill so they become sailors the next day. Thanks!
