OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Anyone else leaving for Bootcamp on 23rd
My son leaves on the 23rd of November...looks like I miss his leaving since I will be overseas (traded it to make the graduation). Any problem with overseas mail to BC...from Taiwan.

My son left for boot camp Nov 23, 2009 and his PIR was Jan 29 2010. As far as mail from Taiwan...that I'm not sure about but I feel that it won't be an issue. You may want to e-mail RTC Public Affairs rtc.pao@navy.mil and ask.
You'll be able to get his temporary addy from the recruiter 72 hours after he leaves ( or his mom can)
He can take a cell phone (and the charger) to call and text along the way...make the last "I'm here" call and then pack it up.
He'll need an activated calling card...make sure he knows how to use it.
I've left you a greeting message on your page...scroll down to read it on your comment wall. There are links and other info that may help you and your son.
This is a VERY hard time to leave...Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years...YUCK.
Make sure your son knows that he won't get any mail for about 3 weeks...and you (or his mom) won't either.
The form letter will come via USPS in 10 days or so as well as the Kid in a box via FedEx. The form letter will have addy, ship, div, grad date and info and the Password for the gate pass so you can drive on base. There will also be a few lines from your son.
The box will have clothes and other belongings...the cell phone will be in two pireces...look in shoes, socks, pockets. Occassionally the rct will slip a note in a pocket...so check everything,
Just hang in there...this is going to be a rollar coaster but it will be sooo worth it.

Thanks for info....21 days...hes trying to finish restoring a car (which we get to store) before he leaves....

BTW there is a NavyDads.com...it is a good site. There are a lot of moms on there just like there are a lot of dads on here. That site is not quite as chatty as this one but it is a good site.
Glad you're on here. You'll find that there is a lot of good info on here. Of course, there is misinformation as well but not usually intentional.
Tell your son to EAT and SLEEP/REST welll before he gets on the bus to RTC. He'll be issued food vouchers at the airport and the USO usually has sandwiches and snacks..he may go many hours w/o sleep. (My son went about 38 or so)

My daughter leaves for BC on the 23rd of November. Just 2 more days! I am scared for her and a little sad. She chose to move out of our home about a month ago to live at her bio-mom's home because she did not like living by our rules anymore. This came as a surprise to us as she had always been pretty good at following the rules. The last several months have been hard and the last month has been particularly stressful. We had a goodbye party at church for her yesterday, and plan to say goodbye as a family tomorrow evening at dinner. We are unsure of how the whole process works, which makes everything seem a little out of control. I wish for the best for all the recruits leaving on the 23rd and pray for safety, wisdom, strength, and stamina!

Well I had to leave to Taiwan before his leaving...but we had some time with him (he was busy trying to restore a car he bought). We just hope it doesnt snow the day he leaves (his mom and 2 of his brothers are going to see him off). Out son had moved in after a year on his own.

How are you holding up? Im so nervous for mine! I did get the quick, "I got here ok, i'll call in about 3 weeks", phone call! Made me feel a ton better!!

Well my son left this last tues. My 3 other sons and his mom saw hime off. The only thing was as the airport my wife forgot to get approved to go thru secuity to see him off so it was a fast goodbye at the security gate...at which she broke down and cried..
It was a good bonding time with his bro's...and she got a call later that night that he had arrived...
