OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I think most people live on base there, but you can try to check out the website militarybyowner.com they may have some homes for rent on there.

Why can't he get live ashore approved Analuiza?
You won't get in trouble for living in the Navy Lodge for two months but it's a matter of if they have an opening and if you can afford it. Their rates are $65 per night which is reasonable but for a months stay that's almost $2000, an apartment in GL might be half of that cost. -

$2000 for hotels and then meals, laundry, etc. will be expensive too, just saying.
Perhaps you should call the Navy Lodge to make sure they can accomodate you that long. Their first priority is for families that are on PCS orders. Make sure if you are going that they will be able to keep you in a room for as long as you need it.
What happens at the end of two months? Are you going back to your home state or ? If he is just starting his classes at A school, he could be there for about a year. Perhaps buying a beater car might be something to consider so he would have a way of getting around and then you can live off base at a more reasonable rate while he is there (?)
I don't know what the wait list is on base, perhaps that might be an option as well (?) -

Pick up the phone and call the Lodge, they'll tell you how long you can stay. I know the ones overseas have a definite number of days.

Oh, one more thing... the Lodge is NOT "on base". It is in the housing area, which is through the gate and in a base-like environment run buy civilian contractors. Lots of folks think that area is on base, but it isn't really. -

Im planning on moving to GL in late april. does anyone have any advice on this? Any good places around the area that is safe. Were getting married on the 23 of april so i just wasnt sure how long it would take to get everything situated so that i can move up there?

The first thing that your new hubby will need to do is take a certified copy of your marriage license to his command so he can get you added to his page 2 which will allow you to get your military id card, tricare benefits and he can get BAH for housing allowance as a married sailor.
Because he is already at GL - they will not pay to move you or any of your possession there. He will need to put in a LIve Ashore package to be able to live with you but I don't believe he can do that until after he provides proof of marriage. He should be able to ask his LPO or someone at the personnel command what steps he needs to take. Good luck to you. -

My hubby has one last comp test for ETA school tomorrow, woo-hoo! We only have a couple more weeks until stand down!! I can't believe he has been in GL for almost an entire year. He will be on hold for several months after the new year, but there is an end in sight!

WooHoo for comping A school! Hoping even if he has to sit in GL for awhile, he will get orders so you can at least start planning your ...next step! Has he done his dream list yet? What are you hoping for?

well, we stayed behind in SD... so it would be nice to be here for a while longer. From what I hear, they do take into consideration where dependents are. His dream sheet consisted of San Diego, C schools that are offered in SD and also a ship that is in port here. So... we're hoping for SD! :) If not, then VA here we come, right?

April I have been out of the loop for a while since we had our son in September and I haven't been on here much. Did you end up moving to GL or staying Cali? Yeah Jan or Feb would be nice for orders. Is your hubby FC or ET? Mine just left 10 mins ago to take the final test! :)

Yep, a year and a half, that will probably be how long we are apart too. Well, time does go faster when you have a baby in the middle of the seperation! :) I am so busy sometimes, the days blend together. He was here only 1 day after my son was born, so when he comes back in two weeks, he will be 3 months old :/
