My son just received his orders for NMCB 40. Following training in Mississippi he will be heading to California. I understand NMCB40 is currently deployed. Any insight as to what we might expect for our son? Will he be expected to join up with them in this deployment? Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello Ladies! My son just got to Hueneme on Sunday...His BU3 advised them that they would more than likely deploy on 07Dec...but Im learning to not take everything I hear as gospel as its always changing...lol I only made 2 trips to Gulfport to learn that hahahah...
Hi Lori,
My daughter arrived in Port Hueneme 2 weeks ago, just after Gulfport combat school. She's been getting her shots and fitted for eyeglasses, uniforms etc and will be deployed with NMCB40 VERY soon. Luckily we had an early Christmas with her before she went to Cali. I know there are several others scheduled to leave soon as well.
Hi SeaBeeMomma,
My son has been getting shots this week too. Hes really close to deploying also...I was glad we did an early Christmas also...
Good luck to all that are getting ready. Talk to them as much as you can now, once they leave you may get a couple of texts from airports and nothing for a week or so, it took almost 10 days for him to get there. That is how our expierence went with my son when he left. The week befor he left we talked every day it was very nice and make sure you get the Power of Atty from them so you can take care of loose end for them if there are any.

Good luck and thank them for their service for me.
Jackie

Been talking to him daily...We're down to the last 48 hours...Its getting a little tougher on us both I think...We did get the power of atty in order... Now just getting Mom in order lol

Good to hear you getting to talk to him alot. Mom's will put smiles in their voices and smile through it but we are never ready, our job is to not let them know how sad we are and keep their spirits up and kind of treat this part like an adventure. Be prepared you wont hear from him for a few days once they get so far into the trip but he will call a couple of times. Good luck and write alot and stay on N4M it helps. Jackie

Thanks so much..my nephew went to Iraq so I kind of remember but its different with my first born...Yes, at this point Im being upbeat and he thinks all is well...already telling me what he wants in the first box and to send plenty so he can share...God I love that kid...LOL  N4Ms is a God send-such smart ladies...Love it here...

Well today is my birthday and I just wanted it over and no fuss this year. My 5 yr old daughter has put her dad in charge of a party for the 3 of us trying to make it special. This morning she told me all of this and just as I was going to make coffee my Seebee called me to wish me a happy birthday and I was ok until the end when he said happy birthday I just cried, eventually pulled my self together to be able to finish the call. I looked at my husband and daughter and said that was the best present i could have gotten. I miss him so much. Jackie

Happy Birthday Jackie!  You feel about your birthday like I do about Christmas-just want it over...lol  It is GREAT your Seabee called today-wonderful gift.  My Seabee left today...he called everytime he was on the ground and several times on the layover..Now I wont hear from him til hes settled...I miss mine terribly too Jackie...Going to be a new experience without him this year...but I'll adapt surely ha!
