I am new to Navy for Moms. My son is EOD. We just got the form to be able to visit on Christmas...I am so excited to see him. Any other mom's from Ohio? So glad I came across this site.
Lydia--- Yes, R said that he is supposed to be adopted fror Christmas. He is looking forward to it. I hope everything goes well, and they'll all be able to go.

Lisaw9569---- My son R is in this div. We now live in Florida (for the past 14 years), but we used to live in Ohio. We lived around the Akron Canton Airport. Where are you from?
Jan----We are near Toledo. My son is W. So excited to belong to this site. I have been able to talk to my son a few times but they have been all about business. I didn't care just hearing him talking to me was the best. He said he has made some really good friends and that he wishs some of the guys would get it together. I too have to share time with a girlfriend but I don't mind much because her and I chat on a regular basis. Makes it easier to deal with him being away.
Has any of the son's mentioned the stick that is my son N. I live down in Louisiana. Does anyone know how you are to dress at the PIR? Bonnie I have been praying for you all week that your son gets to call you.

Can anyone tell me about the scarf and the ribbon. I want one!!! Are we going to wear it at the PIR? Is anyone going to the meet and greet at the Ramada Jan 6th? We will not be able to go at Christmas so if anyone sees my son PLEASE GIVE HIM A HUGE HUG FOR ME!!! Lydia says this is like a rollercoaster and at first I really didn't get it up now I sure do. Its awful.. I also talk to my sons girlfriend and she is coming to the PIR, But I would love just to have him by myself and not share. I live in St. Petersburg Fla. for 8 years about 35 years ago and I still have family that lives there in Brandon.
Soooo.. its 8:08 pm and no call here yet...I am like a kitten on a hot tin roof...I jump every time ANYTHING rings..doorbell, cell phone, landline, oven timer......Holy Mackeral...this is nuts..lol....
I am sorry Bonnie I know it must be really hard. I didn't get to talk to him but I did listen to a message he left. I will keep you in my prayers that he will call soon. Has anyone heard how many kids have left this division? My son N indicated it was 24 right after thanksgiving. Has anyone found out about the scarf? or ribbon?
Oh Bonnie, I am so sorry. It's so hard getting your hopes up and then nothing...I know what you mean when you say you feel numb. It's where we go to get through it. My sons girlfriend and I were txting earlier about being disappointed about not getting a call. I was telling her that I got the 10 second call when he first got there and that was more upsetting then comforting, then I got the call last week for 2 minutes and I felt completely stunned when I hung up, it came out of the blue and he sounded like a robot, a nervous one in fact. Although I certainly want a call and I keep hoping for a good one, I have enjoyed his letters so much more. He sounds good in them and I choose to imagine his voice as normal and upbeat, even excited...The letters leave me feeling on top of the world, the calls have been a different story. I hope you get an AMAZING call from your guy really soon, one that lights up your world, in fact I wish that for everyone..lol....
I was kind of hoping they might get to all today also, after not getting to talk to him last week.
We did get letters , my friends third grade class all wrote to him, they were so cute and funny, and sincere, I went into the class and helped them address them and answered questions, I asked them if they knew what animal one of the more dangerous jobs in the navy was called and this little guy raises his hand and says I know I know the angry dogs!! so funny, I wish I could see his face when he opens all 28 letters, I mailed them 3 to an envelope. They all want him to come visit!
I am not sure that will happen as he will go to Florida for diver training. Bonnie, hang in there, maybe tomorrow, did I see someone say the 16th we would expect a call, that is to far away.
until then, Thurs. more letters!!
Good Morning From Lousiana!! It is a dreary day just how I feel. I also talked to N girlfriend lastnight. She was really dipapointed and cried alot. I too have finished making all the reservation and sent a letter to N to see what he might want me to bring from down here. I got alot of advise on what to wear Thanks alot. Have a good day ladies.
lisaw - welcome!!! Please be sure that you post your thoughts and questions on the actual PIR site too! EOD - thats a tough rate as all Spec Ops are!!! We have other EODs on here too!

PIR is Everything and I mean Everything you can imagine as far as what to wear. Mine was in summer and there were some girlfriends and wives in almost nothing at all - to nice suits and ties! I wore nice Jeans and a t-shirt - a bright color that my daughter and I both picked out and told him about so that he could find us in the bleacher ... hahaha boy did he ever find us he said... we wore flourescent green! You guys will need to dress warm that auditorium will be COLD! The doors are huge and open a lot!
Thanks for the info. Lydia, it never entered my mind that it would be cold in the auditorium. I guess layers is the way to go....:)
Ms. Ampi can get the shirt for with PIR date on them --- lets do it... Lets help Ms Ampi with that silk screen cost and make the shirts 12.25 --- Im in for sure!!!!! Email her for info
