Nope..no call no letter this week...I felt a little lost for a couple of days..now I am back to looking forward to a call or letter next week....trying to get into the holiday spirit, wrapping gifts and baking cookies while listening to holiday music...spending time with my other children to stay uplifted...it's hard not to wish away the holidays but so important to stay in the present and enjoy life every day. I'm trying to find the balance between missing my son and adapting to him not being here while still living a happy, well rounded life...don't have it figured out yet but I'm working on it !!!  lol....wishing for letters and calls for everyone...

Whooo, got a call tonight, I was so excited, we got to talk for 15 minutes, he said they all go by their last names so he has a friend from pennsylvania, A, any of you ladies from there, he has relatives in the area and our son is hoping to go with him for Christmas. He sounded good got to answer a lot of my questions. Anyone else get calls!

We are from PA but no relatives there, so its not my son.  No call here.  What did he have to say?

Bonnie my check is in the mail to you today.

lisaw - SR - Seaman Recruit

Lydia  I understood that.... but there is someone still trying to find "B's " mom and Jan said she told "R" in her last letter... so on and so forth, we arent to actually use our SR's names on here for security reasons so... my question is are the initials i am seeing the first letter of the last name of the SR? If so my son is W.

Getting a call now from son.  Had to go because he was calling from office and the other line rang-so maybe others will get call too.  He said he would call back.  20 minute phone call.

we got our call last night. sooo good to hear from him but he was really hard to hear, I think others were in the room so he was talking so quiet!

Does anyone know if others will be getting to make a call..Wondering if the whole division will get a turn..

I'm sorry, I think I will stop letting you know.   I just don't want you to miss it when it comes.  I don't know why.  I didn't ask my son.  Although there were a lot of things I forgot to ask.  Almost feel worse when you get off. He did say they had the chance to sign up for retirement savings,  got his dress uniforms back, got pictures taken. They have parkas to wear.  says he isn't cold.  Will get liberty at PIR but will need to come back at night to sleep on base unless he has watch. Battle stations in like 2 weeks.  Will get liberty the whole day for Christmas.

Amy...Thank you for sharing your call...As much as I hope to get one, I love to get whatever tidbits of info. I can from other recruits in his division. Hearing what is going on with your recruit lets me know SOMETHING..hahahahaha..I would rather have a heads up on getting a call, it is hopeful and exciting..If it doesn't come, then so be it..at least I got to be excited for awhile...

Bonnie, I am so happy for you and your trip in december..I hope you give us an update when you get back ...I'm already looking forward to it....lol..sounds a bit desperate but I just can't help it !!

Sorry you did not hear from him, he could be on watch, our son said the whole div. scored a 4.98 out of 5.0 which he said was amazing, and that last week was probably the biggest week so far.He also wrote that he got a sharp shooter penant for his his dress blues anyone know what that is? He said one guy got let go last week, he lost his contract, that must have been tough. I also thought of all these things I wished I had asked him. But the div. sounds like they are doing great, and we should be able to talk to them on Christmas I hope!!
