Yesterday was rough but we had a wonderful week and weekend with her. She didn't get much sleep last night because of nerves. She is at MEPS ,here in Houston, this morning then will be flying out to GL this afternoon. Looking to meet other mom's for support and guidance.

I am getting ready to take my Son to meet the recruiter to head to MEPS today then
off to BC tomorrow. The tears are flowing and it is going to be a rough day. I miss
him horrible already. We live in Indiana. So, he has a five hour bus trip tomorrow.
Will be hard not to jump on the bus with him:)
Hi Sharrie! Thanks for replying. I feel the same way. I haven't cried in front of my daughter but she knows it's hard. It was and will be a rough transition. She is our first born. I am sure going to miss her. She is a wonderful girl. But i know it's time to let her find her own way in life. We are so very proud of her. Our son leaves Aug 10, 2011 for boot camp in GL. They both enlisted on the same day. I'm just thankful they both didn't leave for bc the same day. Let's keep in touch. We can do this.
Hang Tough Navy Momx2! you will make it. Cry when you feel like it. Rest, hang out for hours on end on N4M. I spend way more time here than on my FaceBook, and I used to love FB! Everyone here just knows how you are feeling. There is comfort in numbers.
We got a call from our recruiter two days after he left Denver with an address. But don't wait for the address. Go ahead and start writing her upbeat newsy letters now. Then you can mail them when you get the address.
We still have not gotten "the box" yet. But I am not as upset by that. I know my son is safe and is following his dream. There is comfort in knowing we raised great kids!
Just take the emotions as they come. And they will. And know it gets easier each day!
I took my son to the recruiter today who drove him to Pittsburgh MEPS. I will drive up in the morning (although I am worried about icy roads) to watch him swear in, and then he will fly out tomorrow afternoon.
Does anyone know if this week's recruits will be put on hold, or will they get to start training right away? I heard that the last recruits out before Christmas will be the 15th....don't know if that is true. I'm trying to guestimate when his PIR might be.
Today is the first morning that I wake up and go to his room. He left for BC yesterday. He called last nite about 10:38pm and we talk for 30 seconds...yes , tears come and go...I know he is safe and that he will do great .
I should have his address probably in a week. Just keep looking at the calendar as well, since Xmas is in the middle...it will be February...
We are in Tampa, Florida...any other Moms from Florida please lets stay in touch and learn from each other. Thank you
Thanks everyone for replying. Our daughter just flew out of Houston at 6:55pm Central Time. She will arrive in GL around 9:30pm. Let me know when you all hear something. Not sure how this all works. Seems like they have recruits going all everyday of the week. Not sure how the week of Christmas will be handled as well. I can't determine the PIR date as well. Not with Christmas and New Years. We're just going to wait for the letter and/or maybe her recruiter will be kind enough to call us this week with that. Hang tough like Bobbie says!! Thanks so much for that. Love it! I think i'm going to be the one with a sleepless night tonight. Worried about what she is going through emotionally. God bless you all! Hugs
My son left last Wednesday for MEPS, then flew to GL on Thursday. I got the call from GL at 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning! We got the "box" today! It has been a rough couple of days for us, but for some reason now that I have the box, I feel better. . . I am just trying to take this a day at a time!! I am hopeful to get the letter with the address later this week!
Hi Itsme,
My son flew out on the 13th from L.A. arrived in Chicago last night...I really hate this....He's an awesome kid and it's sooo hard to let go...To make me feel even worse my son called me from the Chicago airport to say he was there and he thought that would be the last time we could talk so i went to bed around 9 and he called from bootcamp to say they are mailing his stuff home and he would talk to me in 2 weeks....I MISSED HIS CALL and feel like a horrible mother now....Sad day today...I think it's getting harder as the days go by
Holly is very hard to let go!!! I feel the same. Think that we raised them good , we love them and they know that!! He is going to call soon, not as often as we like..but they will. Today, its hard...im going to go get some more paper and a special pen...since im going to write him everyday....You are a terrific mother, dont forget that!!! You are a the most important piece until he graduates...Stay focus, read, write, and research PIR..thats the next big event...we will make it !!!.
Go to YouTube, they have tons of videos from bootcamp....you will like it!!
Thank you Maria for your kind words....I will take your advice...It's very appreciated : )
Wendee. my son left yesterday, December 14th. He called last nite at 10:30pm...He arrived safe,I will recieved the box in about two weeks, he said a big I love you.!..the entire conversation took 30 seconds!!!!
For what I read, if the group does well, they get to call home , maybe in Xmas...we just need to pray that they all work together so we all Moms can get another phone call in the near future.
Tears are comming and going....his friends are checking on me and just begin to write him today....and at the same time Im so proud of him. Im an Air Force retired wife, I went tru tons of deployments...but this time its my son ,support is crucial...they will make it with flying colors because we will let them know we are proud of the decisition they made. Lets wait to see what Division they are...and we all need to plan our trip to Graduation!!!
Stay stong , we can do this!!!! Its hard but we can do this!!!
