For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Great Lakes Information
Hello WONDERFUL ladies ; This is just some info about Great Lakes/Things to do there/Whether etc. I'm about 3 hours from there, so if you have questions, feel free to ask!
Things to do!!! *Volo Car Museum - for those car buffs. (cheap fun!) *Shedd Aquarium/Field Museum/Museum of Science & Industry. -
ALL DAY THINGS. YOU WILL NEED TO START IN THE MORNING. You will only make it through 1. (kind of pricey, VERY nice though!) *Gurnee Mills Mall - most sailors want to go here. Not far from Great Lakes, NICE mall. HUGE amount of stores. (FREEEEE) -MOVIE THEATER INSIDE TOO! *Navy Pier - Shopping mainly. (nice to see!) ****SOMETIMES YOUR SAILOR JUST WANTS TO GO TO THE HOTEL AND CHILL/SLEEP/TAKE LONG SHOWERS/RELAX****
Places to stay!!! *Red Carpet Inn - RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM BASE (I stayed here) *Ramada - has a shuttle, however I suggest if you're renting a car, drive. It's honestly not long lines to get on base or bad parking if you get there at 6:30, no earlier, no later. We waited about 1o minutes and were seated. We had a 2 minute walk to get in line. (Meet & Greet is hosted here) *SpringHill Suites - also very nice, not far from base. *Navy Lodge - heard WONDERFUL things about it. *Quality Inn - not bad at all!
Places to eat!!! *KFC/PIZZA HUT/TACO BELL - at the NEX, on base, for RIGHT fater PIR. *There are a few restaraunts next to the Red Carpet Inn. *McDonalds - Next to the Red Carpet Inn. *Rainforest Cafe - In Gurnee Mills Mall. *Food Court - In Gurnee Mills Mall.
Weather!!!! *DRESS WARM. IT'S COLD IN IL DURING THESE MONTHS. *The PIR hall is slighty chilly as well!!! *Ladies!!!!!!!!! - DRESS NICE. DON'T WEAR SHORT DRESSES. When I was at PIR I saw SO many women wearing risque dresses, this is a nice occasion. Dress accordingly. Nice jeans, and blouse will do. Wear comfortable shoes, base is MASSIVE. You will be walking alot. That's all I have at the moment, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Sailinghi-Hopefully you all discussed which four, your recruit will have to puth them on a list for PIR. Anyone under the age of 12 will not be counted against your "Four". Anyone over 12 years of age and is NOT part of your original four will have to wait in the overflow waiting room. Once everyone from the list has been seated, and if there is enough seating left, they will allow some of the overflow in. Now I know it depends as well on how big the PIR group is! All is all, the ceremony is about 1 1/2 hours long from what I hear, and those who did not get in will be able to see there new sailor! I know there will be a video of PIR for sale as well.
I am learning all this myself so I hope between all of us we can conquer all this together.
