My son left yesterday and I haven't gotten the "Phone Call" yet. I am really having a hard time.

I did pretty good until I got home last night and saw all of his stuff laying around, but not him.

I cried all night. I just want to hear his voice and know he is ok. I am afraid I will miss the call.

I have been on pins and needles all day.

Sharrie, hung in there....im sure there is a logical explanation for his delay. Call or go see his recruiter!! Give him a little be of time.

I went to his room as I do every morning and yes, its hard....Play music that we used to play, went to get blue writing paper and Xmas card and get very busy...check this side more than anything...we will get tru this...stay strong, he is in very good hands!! tears will come and go with any little thing but the best help and love that you can give him...its your support and strengh...You can do it!! we are here for you.!!! He is going to call you!!!

My son also left yesterday ..He called me when he got to the airport to let me know he made it....They let him make one last call from boot camp which we didn't know he would have and  i missed  it  : (  He said he will call me again in 2 weeks....I've been at work all day crying...I still have to put all of his stuff away in box's he will be gone for a year in a half. Keep in mind he called from there after midnight it was after nine here...Turn your phone up really loud. Feel better soon!

holly   Does your son have a calling card? Also, Ileft you a new greeting message (had left you one in Feb but deleted it just now) go to your profile page, scroll down to read it. there are links and info that may be helpful

I think he has 2.....are we allowed to send them more???? Thank you Jessica for all of the info  : )

Sharrie...did he have a calling card? They have to have a calling card...they have payphones to use. Some rcts take their cell and can use that before packing it up in the box

I have still not gotten a call.

Yes, he had a phone card.

He had no cell phone.

It is killing me not knowing.

Maybe I will call his recruiter, even though seems we haven't

been able to trust him or believe anything he says.

You will get a call.....Check your phone i got a call from a 847 area code...some people don't answer their phones when they see out of place area codes...I answered 4 calls yesterday in hopes that one would be my son....I have been up all night crying off and on...The not knowing if he is alright i think is

going to kill me..I tried to watch youtube last night and only got to see part of the bootcamp video but it made me feel a little bit better.....I know i will feel better in 2 weeks when he can call again...I hope you will too....

My experience has been almost EXACTLY the same as all of you.

My daughter left on the 13th... went to local MEPS... flew from there to Chicago. Called from the airport. Got $$$ from the USN for supper... went to the USO... then called from BC. Box will arrive in approx. 2 weeks. No phone call for about 3 weeks.

This is killing us. It's the lack of communication thing, not the separation thing.

I had no idea it would be this hard on us.

Totally agree with all of you. This is tough. But with each others help we can do this. We have to be strong for our kids. They need us to get through this. It is a culture shock to them at first but they can do this and we can as well. Let's countdown the weeks together and before we know it we'll be seeing them again. Can't wait for that day! Hugs everyone! My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. For my daughter and your future sailors as well. Big Hugs! Happy Holidays!

Hello fellow moms, ect. How is everyone doing today?

Good morning....I hope everyone is better today....I went Christmas shopping yesterday hoping it would make me feel better...It did not...I am having sleepless nights....I have 3 kids..My daughter is 20..she has a 2 month old daughter....My son in bootcamp is 18 and his twin brother....My kids live with me...But My sons presents is very much missed....He was the one to get up and hug me and ask me how my day was when i walked in from work everyday...hug me when he woke up...hug me when i went to bed...He is the one that gave me the name motherpie..... I hope he is doing alright out of his element....I'm gonna sit on my phone for the next 2 weeks...I hope your day is wonderful : )
