Hi all,

My son will be going on to "A" school in Charleston in the Nuclear Power Program.  Just wondering if any others will be in the Nuke program following PIR hopefully on 1/7/11.

Has anyone had a sailor in that program before?

Thanks,

Val

We are too, but we are waiting to find out if he will be grad n go to make our hotel and plane reservation for PIR
Residence Inn is only $84.00 a night for a studio. My husband and I and my daughter are going. They refund up to 100% up to 24 hours prior to the 6th so I figured it wouldn't be too risky to book it. I am still waiting on booking flights. My son said to wait till after Dec. 7th to see if he passes an exam. I'll have to actually wait till he writes after that.
Hi Zack'smom,

I just made our reservations at the Residence Inn for the 6th and 7th. Our boys will be heading to the airport early Saturday but we can hang out Charleston. Which hotel will you be staying at?
Val,
Do we know for sure that they are going to the airport on Saturday?
As well as my son knows at this point he will be at the airport early Saturday for departure sometime Saturday to Charleston.- That was the last I heard from him about it. Sounds like it is for sure as long as they pass all their tests, don't get sick or delayed any other way - that goes for the PIR on the 7th. I figured the hotel booking can be cancelled or switched without any monetary loss. Looking forward to meeting all these young men/women who will be flying on to the warm beautiful area of Charleston!
I am flying to  GL, IL, My SR wrote he will not be leaving for school till later the next week after graduation in January, I wonder if he knows your SR?? I have no plans yet about heading to Charleston, time will tell.
Yes, my daughter is headed there.
Anyone from Northern VA or Washington DC area going on to Nuke school after 1/7 graduation? My son said he met a really nice guy from there.
Val,
I believe that is what my son is doing also in the Grad & Go program. What is your boys first name my son's name is Jesse?

My son ship 12 div.038 is heading to Goose Creek for Nuke
I am excited for the amazing education and training all these sailors will be getting in NUKE School. Anytime I tell a NAVY veteran ( many strangers I chit chat with in the grocery stores) my son is going to GC they offer their congratulations and encouragement that they have made a wise choice and if they work hard they will go far.

I am still waiting for news from my son that he passed the last PT test on 12/7 to make flight arrangements - We'll be planning on hanging out with these sailors in the airport on Sat the 8th so I'll make the departing flight for later in the day. Hardest part after the 7th was knowing he will not have time to write until Sunday the 12th and I won't get the letter with the results until the following Thursday at least. Patience, Patience....

We do have our room booked at The Residence Inn Waukegan for Jan. 6th and 7th. Basic studio room that can sleep 4 or squeeze in 5 is $84 with a kitchen included as well as a full breakfast. Larger suites available too.
Greetings all,

I just got a letter from my son and he said he met with the Nuke officer who asked for his 2 top choices for Nuke school. He chose MM and ET - and said he will find out which he gets on Monday. Can anyone tell me what MM and ET stand for in Nuke school and anything about it? When he left for bc he told folks he can't wait to be on a ship and did not want to be in a sub. The letter also says " I volunteered for Sub duty. I am happy with that decision. It will be easier to tell you why over the phone or in person." I am excited for him to learn from others and make informed decisions and to be open to God's calling for his future.
