Hi Navy Mom,

   Yes my son is in this ship/Div. He left from Springfield MA Meps on Dec 15. He called that night (about a 15 second phone call-"Hi I arrived safe and I will try and call again in about 3 weeks").I have received the box of personal items about 1 week ago and the form letter on Dec 23, explaining graduation with a short 3 line handwritten note from Cody. He said that he was doing well and things were going smoothly. I was really hoping for a phone call at Christmas but that did not happen. I hope that he is doing OK and think of him "OFTEN" through out the day. Love to hear how your son is doing and you too!

Hey Navy Mom LornaJ!! We live in Illinois... only about 2.5 hours from Great Lakes. We drive to the Chicago area for fun road trips and shopping. I never dreamed my child we be in the Navy, much less at Boot Camp. It's geographically so close... and yet so far away.

Springfield, MA is a little bit farther. Do you plan on flying out here for their PIR?? I don't like to talk or write about PIR too much... don't want to jinx anything, you know???

And, as hard as it is not to talk to our children, I keep telling myself: no news is good news. We got the call and the box of belongs at about the same time you were getting yours. I'm hoping for a letter soon.

Our recruit is an excellent swimmer and is a college grad, so no problems with the academics, etc. Our recruit also has been training... swimming, running, etc., so the PT days shouldn't be toooooo terribly bad {fingers are crossed!} Our recruit also did a lot of studying and reading... almost like prepping for the SAT test.

Write back when you have time!!

Hey LornaJ!! Have you heard anything from your son yet?  We haven't. No real letter... no phone call, other than that first one.

Just wondering how you're doing.   ~Lynn

Hi Navy Mom

my son is in same ship and division, left home Dec 14th which seems like and eternity, we(me and his sister) miss him so much,cant wait for feb when we can see him.  We live in Northern WI cant wait for the road trip to Chicago about 6 hour car ride.  Patiently waiting for letters my daughter has been home for Christmas break and checks the mailbox least a dozen times a day.  look forward to meeting you in Feb

Hi Lynniemarie,

My daughter is on Ship 03 Div. 081.  I just found your discussion, she left on 12/14 - 3 weeks ago today.  Having a hard time with it.  I see your are from Wisconsin, I spent a Christmas in Brookfield WI a long time ago, have liked it ever sense.

Hey Jill!! I'm in Illinois... not sure if I filled something out wrong to make you think I was from WI, but it's close to IL, so all is well. We live close enough to drive to PIR. {I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that training goes well and everything is good when it comes to their final test... Battle Stations 21.}

Have you received any letters yet?? What can you tell by them?? Seems things are challenging for the recriuts... just as it should be.

I must have seen something that made me think you are in WI, oh well thats ok.  I am from Ohio and we driving, it's only 6 hours.  I've gotten 4 letters so far, its hard to tell how things are going, just that some people have gotten put back and some have been sent home already.  Sounds to tough for me, I think I would have given in by now, the lack of sleep and the long days with pt, to much.
