Moms with Seaman Recruits Soon to be Sailors going to GREAT LAKES A-SCHOOL after PIR

Hi Families just wanted to start a group here for the A School Great Lakes Group?

Maybe we could state our SR's job goal.

My Son is Damage control and A school will be in Great Lakes.  I do not know the length of school yet, SR said he would be graduating in Feb-Mar.  Excited for it all.  God Bless all, cant wait to get that call that he earned his BALL CAP  and perhaps sheds his first tear, and he can say proudly "I am a Sailor"

Nice to see familiar faces on here :) My husband is going into ET (i think) and he said he will be in GL til September. Also on Christmas Day, I was told by him that he wouldn't have overnight liberty during PIR weekend. I hope that changes though!!

Cheers

Does any one know what we can bring to our sailor for after PIR?  I've heard there is a place across the street that you can rent locked boxes until they can have access to their more civilian stuff.  Lap tops, phones, civy clothes???
I have no idea. he says he wants computer, phone etc, but i think they have to go in lock box for a few days???  Not sure.  i am packing up some civilian clothes and electric razor, stuff like that.  Hope he can keep them.
They will have to be locked up probably. I too wish I knew when they can have civies etc. My SR said he would just go out and buy more later when they are allowed. I think that is kind of a waste when he has so many very nice civies he can use. I have heard things do not just loosen up right away. They do not get to wear civies right away. lockngo is on facebook it is about 5 a day but they do have a 30 day price I THINK.  Oh I beleive that laptop phone are allowed right away. Does anyone know when they move if on base? Does it depend on shp/div or job?
I'm sooo excited to pack up my daughter's stuff----we're getting closer to seeing them all!!!!!!

My daughter will be going to A school on 1-12-11 But she is placed on hold until 2-14-11 then she can start her 4 week school for BM. shes not sure what she is going to be doing for a month. My daughter left me a bot with some things in it for me to send her when she was in A school, I'm bringing them up there so she can have it have ASAP. She told me about the lockers that they can rent, so thats what she wants to do.
