Yeah from what my husband said PT is a good bit harder, and he is in extremely good shape when he left!  About the yelling/ Seal Canidates..in my husbands words 'Having them in close proximity means it always sounds like the movie "300" with all the battle cries and screams'.

I really hope we get a phone call this week!!!!

We received our first set of letters on Wednesday.  Our son who is not an avid writer wrote to his sister and filed out my questionier.  It is a fun way to get the information that I want and need for peace of mindwhile not making him think about what to write when so much is gong on.  We have sent him approx. 3 questioniers and cant wait till I get the next one back.

I do have to say my peace of mind is better since the letter now waiting for a call.  But good things come to those who wait.  Hoping soon to hear his voice.

Found this poem and thought I would pass it on to all the navy families.  This is to all the selfless mothers and wives

I held him in my arms on the day he was born, and dreamed about his future, and the things that he would learn. Now he stands before me, a boy almost a man. I find myself reluctant to let go of his hand..... Every yesterday is a memory of dreams, every tomorrow is a vision of hopes....Today I give my only son, the space to find his way, and celebrate his future as he starts his journey in the Navy today.

I sent this to my mother-in-law and she loved it!!  I'm trying to get her on this site!
Delicateflower...good to hear you got a letter finally.  It doesn feel good to get some form of communication from them.  It seems more real.  Now hopefully we will get the phone calls this week.  Phone vibes everyone.
Just found out today that my aunt snet our son a package.  Oh no I see push ups in his future.  Will have to let my aunt know that this is a big no no but the thought was very nice.  I feel so so bad that this happened.  Will have to pray that he did not get much punishment.

Delicate flower.....Oh, no about the package is right.  Well you live you learn.  I will see what my son says about any package.  What was in it???  I had to give strict orders to my mom to not send anything but letters in white envelopes.  And no musical, glittery cards either.

SailorWife....My son was also in good shape when he left.  He didn't mention it being hard except said that others that weren't in shape sure were having problems.  I am hoping for a phone call too.

Anyone get any letters today?  I got my letters last Tuesday, so I am hoping for tomorrow.  I live really close to GL.  I will fill you in when I hear anything.

Any phone calls today? They were supposed to get a phone call today if they passed some test. I'd really like to hear his sweet voice!
My SR said the test was today and if they did well they MAY get a phone call home 1/5.  If not he thought 1/6 or 1/7.

Two more letters came today!!!!

They were dated 12/27 and 1/2/11.  He says boot camp isn't that bad if you listen and do as your told.  He wishes some of the SR in his division would do excatly that.  He thinks that some of the SR that scored high on the ASVAB test cheated because they have no common sense at all.  Some SR were caught wearing their uniform at night while sleeping, walking around with the dog tags on the outside of their shirt.  He said so far he hasn't gotten yelled at and he is beginning to wonder if his RDC knows he is there.  Several SR in his division didn't lock their locker where they keep letters and small things and the RDC came through and scattered the letters all over the floor.  The RDC gave the other locker to another RDC. My son said that you lock your house and car when you are not home, you need to treat your locker the same.  The had an inspector come through and flip up mattresses and found letters under the mattresses because the SR didn't have room in their locker.  Those got thrown on the floor also.  Some SR also wrote a song about the RDC's making fun of them.  That didn't go over to good.

My son has become friends with the AROC in his division.  He want's to support his leadership as much as he can.  He feels bad that some SR are giving them a hard time.

More than 1/2 of his division went to dental to have wisdom teeth pulled and he and several other SR had to make everyones bunks for 3 hours.  He said he has got bed making down to a T.

Some SR recieved a Christmas card that had music in it and he said the poor guy was trying to get the batteries out of the card so it wouldn't go off.

They are getting more shots on 5-2 day.  He caught the cold that everyone else had.  He is excited about week 4 because they get to go to the gun range.  Typical boy.  He enjoys church and has joined a bible study group.

Overall he says yes, boot camp can be real frustrating at times, but at other times you can have a good time.  He said when an RDC acknowledges you, you feel great because usually they ignore you.

Last but least he said he is VERY tired.  I had heard once they start weapons they get more sleep so they are not tired in the gun range.  Is this true?

F

Thanks for the letter details Himmie, I love it ...it's like getting an extra letter.

Now I'm a little worried that mine is one getting his wisdom teeth out. Actually I'm pretty sure he is so thanks to yours for making mine's bed.  ;-)

We were also wondering about how some of these guys who apparently can't keep it together and can't keep quiet ended up in this division. Maybe they did cheat, but how sad is that?

Well let's just hope they got it together today so ours can get a phone call home! And now on to positive happy thoughts.

Glad you got more letters today!  That is awesome!  My husband said in his last one that he is enjoying going to church too, but only about 10 out of the div are going, so maybe they know each other!  I hope to get some letters tomorrow (I normally am about a day behind you guys!)  and more importantly a phone call!!  Good luck and make sure to have the phones ringer turned up and batteries charged!!  :-)
