Hi Mom's

My son is scheduled  for PIR on 2/4/11 an assigned to ship 11 div 061. I could not find any groups for moms who's sons are assigned to ship 11 div 61. Sooo I am hoping we could get together here and compare notes from our sons.  I dont know much about this division, I have read from other moms that certain divisions mean certain things.  Well I hope to hear from you guys :)

I really miss my son:((

Last night (new years eve) it seemed i missed him even more than i did on x-mas eve.

Every New years eve, (fro the past several years anyway), we would stay home with the boys. Their girfriends would come to the house and we would play games (pictionary, 20,000 pyramid). Last night, it was just me and my husband, my other son was here but busy skyping with his girfriend, who is in Japan. I really felt down. Kept wondering what my son was thinking about. Out of the blue my husband says  "they should let every recruit call home for just 5 minutes", ..so i knew that he was missing him, too.

Oh well, 33 more days:)...and it cant go fast enough for me.

My boyfriend mentioned "I wonder what your son is doing tonight?".  I said probably sleeping because they have to get up so early.  LOL

recieved two letters in the mail and he sounds great. He is not a grad and go and actually not leaving great lakes until the 9th. He is going to texas.   Potsie thanks for letting me  know about the scarfs I will be looking fro one. I booked my hotel. the holiday in express. It seemed really nice and had an indoor pool.   they have a state worker rate so I got a good deal.    Does anyone have any ideas what they are going to be doing with the boys for the weekend.   34 more days moms.....yeah

ooh Pam you ahve another son leaving in January oh boy is that not tuff. pheww I dont think I could handle that one. too bad they couldnt have fgone together

The night before my son left for bootcamp I left this on his facebook page...If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. The love of your mother will get you through.......This is a quote believe it or not from Winnie the Pooh. I added the love of your mother part......But since then every time I write him I add  this to the top of the letter

Braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.    Chris said he thinks about this while he is lying in bed.

Well, it's been a couple of days since I've written anything on here.  Just kind of blah and not feeling like doing much of anything.  On a good note though I did receive the questionaire I sent to my SR.  It was so cute the way he answered some of the questions.  That was a great idea from another mom.  I printed it and sent it to him.  When we talked on the phone last week he said he did get it.  He liked it too.  Potsie-lee, how neat is it that  your anniversary is on my son's b-day.  He'll be 22!!  Can't believe that my baby is that old.  Kellymcd, my youngest who is 18 will just be going to MEPS this month.  He's doing early graduation in high school.  So he's only got 2 more weeks of school left.  He can't wait till it's over.  Very smart boy, but doesn't want to go to college.  So, he knows that his only choice is the military.  Thank goodness he's going for the Navy!  Hopefully he'll score as high as his brother on the ASVAB and also do the nuclear program.  We'll see.  I'm sure he'll be in the dep program for a while.  His brother was for 9 months!!!!  Only 33 more days to go.  Still don't know if my son will be a G&G or leave later on in the weekend.  The not knowing is driving my husband and I crazy!!!!  We might just drive up instead of fly.  Not sure yet about that though.

Did everyone get their call??!!!

I have to divide my call time up with his girlfriend.. Thats ok with me!! Said everything is going good. They got thru their inspection alright, even though it looked like a hurricane came thru there by the time the RDC's were done.

Also mentioned they scored high on academics and got a flag??

Said he forgot his bottle of bodywash in the shower and had to do 8 counts, the whole time he was performing them he had to stare at the bottle. I told him that was a bummer and he said it was ok, he didnt mind, its like 2nd nature to him now.lol

Told me everything he wanted me to bring for him  to PIR and one of the items was Irish Spring soap! He said the first thing he is going to do is take a 30 minute shower.

Said they had IT over something ( cant remember, sorry) and went to bed. Shortly after , the lights came on and they had to get back up and do another half hour, because someone was talking. Poor things.

He said they got paid on Fri.

He was happy about that, even thoguh its not much after all the deductions.

Just trying to fill you in on what he is saying, being they are all together. I cant remember everything. lol sorry!

My sons girlfriend just got to talk to him on the phone for 40 minutes.  He told her to tell us things are good and used all his time to talk to her because he did not get to talk to her last time....glad that he got to talk to her...

Kelly, you asked about everyones plans with their SR over PIR. All i know is that my son mentioned he wanted to go somewhere Sun. to get Chicago pizza and watch some football. That is Superbowl Sun. He said they might let them watch the game in there. If you have any ideas let me know, i have never been to chicago.
Yup, got my call too.  I was on my way home from work and my cell phone rang.  It was my older sons girlfriend telling me that my recruit was on the house phone and she wanted to know where I was.  Unfortunately I had stopped at the store and was still about 20 minutes away.  Once I got on the freeway, I had to follow a snow plow/road salt truck for the next three miles going like 10 MPH with no room to pass.  By the time I got to my exit I was crying my eyes out thinking I had missed his call.  I was just about to pull into the driveway and he called my cellphone.  It was bitter sweet!!!  I was crying so hard I could hardly talk.  He just laughed and said, "Oh geez mom!"  I quickly pulled myself together because I didn't want to waste our time with me crying.  He said the division had gotten a shake up and he no longer is with the guys he had gotten to be really good friends with.  That made him very sad.  He did say that they won the academic flag and they were going to try to win the PFA (whatever that is) flag on Monday or Tuesday.  Asked what he wanted me to bring to PIR and he said MY BOXERS...I need real undies.  LOL.  He said he didn't know when they would be able to call again, and he didn't mention anything about getting paid.  It was just so good to hear his voice.
I got a phone call as well. sadly he had an awful connection on his end ( i know it wasn't me cause he called his mom after and she couldn't hear him after) I got 25 minutes but like I said I could barely hear him. I was soo frustrated. I miss him sooo much and I really wanted to be able to talk to him. I am excited though because we only have one month to go, I can't wait for graduation, not only will I get to spend the weekend with him but we are getting engaged! This month can't go by fast enough. Also, does anyone know of any shuttles from the airport to the hotels. also which hotels have shuttles to the base?

Hey everyone-- Are we all getting ready fro PIR !!!??? I cant wait.

Im hoping to get a letter or call soon from our guys. The last batch of letters he sent mainly consisted of the questionares he returned. Which he enjoyed. I actually wrote him a letter and added a questionare type portion to the bottom of it so i can get all of my answers i am looking for (finally). I ask him stuff and he forgets to answer it all. Plus, it takes forever to get the answers back. Poor things. And then when he calls , i hang up and say  'crap, i forgot to ask.....'

I am so frustrated about the trouble making that is going on in there. Why is it being put up with by the RDC"s is beyond me. I hope there is some side form of punishment for these other guys, if not, why dont they all  act up? If you get to graduate and become a sailor with the rest of the group, why not? (not that i want them to, its rhetorical. lol).

I hate to see them go thru so many beatings;((

Im trying to get my son geared up for captains cup. I keep referring to 061 as the best div. in there and telling him that they ROCK. He's probably just rolling his eyes everytime he reads it. lol.

Hopefully we hear from them again soon. I know theyre antsie, too. Getting their uniforms and jackets is really exciting.

I will talk to you all again. Jan

Potise- do what we do.  When you think of something you want to ask, write it down and keep it by the phone.  That way when he calls you'll have all your questions right there.  Hope this helps.  I have asked lots of questions in letters also and don't ever get "all" the answers.  Oh, and also a question for you.  Did you say you ordered your yellow scarf with an anchor on it from LL Bean?  I got on their website and they only had 7 scarves listed.  None of them were plain yellow.  I'm looking at e-bay and have found a cashmere plain yellow one.  Unfortunately, no anchor on it.  Maybe I can find an anchor patch somewhere and sew it on.  My hubby thinks it sounds like a lot of work for just an hour.  I told him I'd have it on all day!!  He just said oh! LOL!
