My son leaves January 4th for boot camp. Anyone else out there leaving then?

My son leaves for boot camp on January 4th, 2011, which is just a week away.  Anyone else out there have a son/daughter leaving this day?  He will be leaving out of Houston and I know it's gonna be so cold in Great Lakes.  He thinks he is ready, but I think he is in store for a surprise and it's not gonna be a hot one!  lol   I'm excited for him, but so nervous!

Nicksmom,

My son also left out of Houston @ Bush (IAH),so I am thinking your son must have been one of the fourteen other recruits that left on 1/4/2011.  Yrue, they try to act tough, but my son said he didn't want to have to go through saying "good-bye" again,I know it was as hard for him as it was for myself. I also had to take my son to the recruiter the nite before meps, didn't get to see the swearing in either,my son had also told me I didin't need to go to his graguation, save the money(as if) I told him I wouldn't miss it for the world. I look forward to hopefully meeting up with all of you at PIR!

my boys will arrive in about 30 min.. i feel so sad..I watched them take their oath this morning then at the airport they gave us a gate pass so we could wait with them. : )

I came home and went into their room and behind the door was a beautiful hand writing note (on the door) written with permanent marker.. I read it and felt so proud of them...They made me feel great.

We went to MEPS yesterday and got some pictures of him swearing in.  He then came out of travel briefing and said "I got to go, now". I got a hug, an I love you, and one picture, then he left.  Happy and sad at the same time.  I got a 4 second phone call at 10:00pm saying "I'm here, you may get another call, you will get my package in 3 weeks, I love you, bye". We are starting to write letters today.
I got the same thing too.  He called about 9pm from the plane and said we are in Chicago.  Then at 1:30 am he called and said we are here and I will call in about 3 weeks, love you, bye.
Waiting for my phone call, too only one day later!!!
Have you heard anything yet?  I'm sure all is well.  Maybe call his recruitor and he will know something.
Talked to recruiter today. Our son is Ship 02 Division 915. Have you found out anything on yours yet?
hi still no news here on my son in in Boston, no box no address.
No, I haven't heard anything yet.  I didn't know the recruitor would have that information.  I guess I will call his and see if he knows anything.
my boys recruiter told me he could have that info this week for me...but he is out of town. Have you found out yet?
My husband left that day out of New York.  I only got my IM OK phone call around 11:00 that night, and nothing since.  Its very hard.  I cannot wait to get into some sort of contact with him.
