I found you guys!  Glad to do.

Welcome. I'm still waiting for a real letter from my son. I'm hoping to get one one day this week. I spoke to someone and they said that they should be in Week 1 still... cause of Christmas. I think 1-4 maybe.

My husband is in Ship 3 Div 83! It's so nice to meet people that are going through the same as me. I miss him terribly! I write to him everyday. But i'm not sure if he's received and of my letters yet.

I can't wait until Feruary 18th!!

:D

I would totally send you a message, but I'm on my phone for the week, and my phone isn't as smart as it claims to be.

our husbands are in the same div, I would love to talk to you about it. Where are you from?

They call em smartphones right? Lol

I'm in tampa FL. You?

I am all the way in California. In the San Francisco Bay Area.

I swear, this is not the smart phone to get. Next time I'm getting an iphone!

Oh California! I've never been there. My husband and I were talking about getting station over there.

I hear that the beaches are beautful!

I had an iphone and I loved it but AT&T was too expensive for me so I went to TMobile. I love my phone, It's the Samsung Vibrant and it's almost the same as an iphone but not as awesome. Lol.

Have you received any letters or calls yet?

Negative. I'm hoping for a letter today.

I'm out of the house for the week because my brother and sister in law found mold in their bathroom, so we packed up us and their three kids, called in professionals, and now it looks like we won't even be back in the next week. How lame :( But I found internet I can steal! Yay! But now I'm getting my letters a day later than I would have before! :(

I've only been in California for a little over a year; I used to live in NY which is very very very cold. It's a very nice change. But now I'm noticing I actually get cold during the winter now, even though it is only about 50 here.

The beaches are absolutely fantastic. Some are really nasty though. They have what you call "black" beaches, very dirty and not fun at all. I used to go to Florida all the time, and I loved the Gulf side beaches, they were so white and pretty, and soft. Some of these beaches are the exact opposite.

If you're ever over here, DEFINITELY go to San Francisco. I finally went the weekend before my husband left, and it was amazing. I loved every minute of it.

Hey All,

Just checking on you all.  Hope that you get some news soon.  I haven't heard from Dallas, as far as a letter, either.  I am sure it will come soon.  Just trying to be patient.  I have written about 5 to him, so I hope that he gets them soon.

So is everyone planning their outfits for freezing IL?  I know that I need to get some things out of the back closet for this trip. :)

Stace

I've never been in snow before. I've lived in FL my whole life and the coldest weather i've seen is what we've had here.

Any advice on what kind of clothing I should purchase?

Thanks :)

NavyWife- Sorry, what is your first name?

My sister recently went to Tahoe, and she bought some boots of some sort... water proof, good snow traction... anyway, I am going to borrow those.  I would bring a warm jacket and plan to dress in layers.  Long underwear, or something to put under your regular clothes.  I would think that once we are in the RTC that it will be warm enough to just have a jacket on.  But if you were going to site-see, then I would get some warm clothes for sure.

Probably a scarf, gloves, hat... and since we don't live in a really cold area, a lot of that stuff will be going on sale soon.

Also, I know that our hotel has an indoor pool :)  So I might just have to bring a suit, just so I can say I went swimming in 20 degree weather. :)

Stacie

Layers are key!

I lived in upstate NY until last year. Going to class I would wear a hoodie under my wnter jacket, and leggings under my jeans. I could even wear rpped jeans and be very comfortable.
