Still no call, except the short info call this morning. I almost choked. He said, It's your son! and I started screaming his name and he kept telling me to calm down he could only talk to get some  information. I did sneak in an 'I love you' in there and he said I love you too mom. AAHHH

We're 2 hours earlier than Great Lakes, so did he mean 1700 their time? I hope not.

Please let them call and don't make me crazy!

By the way, he sounded just like his normal self. Miss him

I GOT THE CALL!!!!!  My SR called me at work and I got to talk for 45 minutes.  I am so relieved and it felt wonderful to hear his voice which was very upbeat and full of humor.  He is loving boot camp and is finding it easy.  The RDC's in his division are great and they don't yell like the other divisions.  His division is the only all male division also.

He was sick with ear infections this week and went to get antibiotics and got to sleep for a day.  He is feeling much better now.

His favorite thing is marching and least is night watch.  He loves the Crab Alfredo when they have it.  He hates the boots, but are slowly breaking in and he loves the blue camouflage uniforms.  They have been wearing them a lot. He said out of a scale from 1-10 his division is up to a 6 in teamwork.  So things are coming along just like they are suppose to.

Delicate flower....Your SR and my SR talk a lot and have become friends now.  I had other names of SR in his division, but he didn't know the first names because they go by the last names.

deesmadre...My SR is pretty sure he knows your SR, but he said there is another SR from N Mexico also so he will find out those two's first names to let me know if it is your SR.

He had is initital job pulled from him due to color blindness and has a list of 20 jobs he qualifies for. He is thinking about doing Hospital Corpsman.  He will put in for it Monday and hopefully there is a job opening.  So please keep your fingers crossed for him.  He has two other back up jobs in place too.

Right now he is an E2 and based on learning progress in boot camp he my go up higher by PIR.  He has passed all of his test so far.

He said something to me that wasn't in his first letter home that really scared me.  He said by the 4th day he wanted to quit and come home.  He had talked to several RDC's and other shipmates and through their encouragement and kind voices he stuck with it and loves it now.  He loves his RDC's and says they have excellent knowledge and understanding but also a sense of humor and discipline all in one.

Yeah Himmie I'm sooo happy for you. I can hear the excitement. I just love all the fun stories and information. I say tell him to go Corpsman if he has any interest in the medical field. It's a great option.

Congrats for the call again!!

Glad you got a call!!!  Make sure your son is aware that a Corpsman does a lot with the Marines also!  They run with them in a lot of situations to be there in case anything goes wrong and the Corpsman can be there to help out with damages.  My husband was offered that job and that was a major reason that he didn't accept it; with a 3 year old we just didn't want him in that much danger.  Great job, but also comes with it's faults.  My husband was told this by his cousin (who has been in the Navy for 16 years), his recruiter, and I was just told this on New Year's Eve when I was talking to a Marine (in his words, 'They might as well be a Marine.').  Just make sure he is aware of this before he goes into it not knowing!

I am really happy that he is enjoying himself!  It helps when you know they are ok!

I got a call!!!!  It was at about 5:12 (thier time).  It was awesome to hear from my husband!  He is doing good and is enjoying the PT and getting adjusted to the studing and 'school work' I guess you could call it.  He has been out of school for 5 1/2 years, so it is different for him to be back in that mind set.  He is sick, but is dealing with it.  He said that next week is 'Hell Week' and wasn't sure what to expect.

Our son (just turned 3 years old in Dec.) actually got to talk to him and you should have seen his little face light up when he heard his Daddy's voice!  He said 'Wow!  That's Daddy!'  first thing!  I was thrilled that he actually talked to him, instead of just looking at the phone how he normally does!  He told him 'I love you Daddy!  I miss you Daddy!'  I know it meant the world to my husband to hear his little voice!

He said that the families of the 900 div gets 'front and center' seating at graduation!  He also said that they were told that the graduation would last about 4 hours, but he didn't think thier div would have to participate during it all, or maybe he was just talking about the Honor Guards.

It was so good to hear his voice!!

My SR also said the same thing about PIR.  We are suppose to get V.I.P. seating and we will get to see our SR before PIR and have pictures taken also.  During PIR they may get to sit with us.  He also gave a little adivse from his RDC.  After PIR is completed they yell "Liberty" and all the Sailors and families are running around to find each other.  With us meaning div 912 we should stay right in our seats becaue the Sailors know where we will be sitting and they will come right to us.

I can only imagine you sons reaction and face to hearing his daddys voice for the first time in a month.  Must have been bittersweet.

Thanks for the information on the Hospital Corpsman.

Yeah my husband said the same about when they call liberty. I am so happy we got calls!
My son was is in overload of info...at 18 his eyes are open now
It is sorta funny that some of us got the same information.  Did any of you have your SR mention other SR's such as befriending them?
He said when their cool you enjoy it but dont push them..
tymegoes.....ditto to that.

I am looking for moms/wives of SR in Ship 02 Div 912 who my SR is friends with.  I found one so far and am looking for the other 2.

lisamorre....  Sailorwife..... Tymegoes..... please PM me so we can see if our SR are friends.  I have only last names.
