so day 21 and no letter.... I am so glad that I started me new job and I am at work and busy not waiting for the phone to ring or the mail man to come. My RCT is going for Submarine Electronics and after BC should be going to Portland, OR for school then deployment. All this waiting is driving me crazy... I just want to hear something.... anything... just want to know he is okay. I make ground turkey strognoff for dinner tonight..LOL.... maybe we should start sharing receipes. Glad to have all of you with RCT's in the same ship and division.
Have a great night.
I know what you mean Shetaz... I started a new job on Monday too, but am also doing the old job as well until they can hire my replacement. The days are just flying by actually. That is until about 5 o'clock when I check the stupid mailbox! (It's new name until I get a letter!)
You guys don't want my recipes.. lol We've been on the Atkins diet since last April with the month of December off. Little to no carbs which is mostly just no fun! Winged it tonight with pork chops but still they would have been great with some gravy and rice! Funny thing is Erik loved the diet. Between Erik, my husband and I we ended up losing a small adult!
I wonder how many divisions besides ours haven't gotten communication yet? Seems like many have but it does make you wonder.
Have a great Wednesday!
FINALLY! A letter!
It sounds like the division just got their mail that has been accumulating on the 29th. My son's letter is dated the 31st and it sounds like it was the first time they had to write. Of course mine forgot to buy stationary and had to borrow a piece of paper from his bunkmate (and I'm sure a stamp too!) It sounds like they are all doing ok. My husband said he sounds like he's doing well (even though half the letter was titled 'things that suck about bootcamp) When I asked him how he got that he said that only HALF the letter was about stuff that sucked! :)
I feel better knowing that he's ok now. Final piece will be that phone call that I DO NOT MISS! (thank you new phone!)
Thanks for all the support when this has been one of the hardest things. It's not easy to let them go but no communication just makes it so much rougher.
May all of your mailboxes have a letter in them too! (Doesn't that sound even better than Merry Christmas or Happy Birthday right about now?)
Erik said they delivered 15 letters to him all at once! I hate to tell him this but that's only 7 days worth from his Dad and I LOL! I know the feeling about saying the same thing more than once but I figured I did that when he was home, he could just deal with it.
I write the same things you do... as well as the momisms. You know.. might suck right now but it won't always suck and he knows that. Tell him about his Dad (who is pretty funny) his sister (who is slowly taking over his books she always refused to read) and the dog who sits at his door and sniffs for him. I thought it would bore him but something I said must have made a difference because one line in his letter was that I had reminded him of something that he desperately needed to hear. Being the typical male I'm not gonna get details on how I was right!
What kind of artsy is he? I'm good with the internet.. might be able to direct you to some things :)
day 22 got a shot letter today not much info... RCT writes:
Hey Mom,
I Love you guys, I miss you guys a lot. I hope you guys got my first letter and wish everything is going well at home. If you can, would you send a few pictures? How are things at home? I miss you guys and the dogs and cat sleeping with me. How are the animals? Can you let my brother and friend know that I miss them. How are things at Grandmas? How are things with you and Dad?
Love you guys.
I am so glad for the letter.. but now I am worried... I have sent three or four letters so far with pictures. I have the right address so hopefully they just passed in the mail. I hope everyone gets some mail soon.
Hugs,
We have finally gotten 2 letters dated on 1.3.11 and 1.4.11 very short but our boy Brian is doing good and glad that he does not have to eat Potato soup.... LOL..... we told him there would be a lot of potatos... hahahaha he said the training is going good and not that hard..... had not said anything about our letters though.
Hey ladies I guess we are all that's responding to our group right now. So, do ya'll want to decide on a color for PIR?
We got a phone call tonight from our son Brian. Hubby and I both talked to him 40 minutes. He told us that it was a reward call for his division doing so well. He told me that he is not yet passed his swim test... had a hard time with the back stroke... and is having trouble with the push ups but he has a battle buddy... no name given. He assured me he has enough stamps and paper... and that when he got our first letter he was on night watch and he stripped that letter open so fast and just kept re-reading it. He was happy with the pictures of his cat and the dogs. He sounded tired but told me he is working hard and doing his homework. He does not have a specific job but is helping out everyone and his petty officer is proud of him.
He asked about his truck.... hahahahaha he worked the previous summer and saved us his money and bought a jeep.... so it is his baby. Told him that we took it to the store last night to keep the fluids running. He told me that he can't wait for graduation cause is he is going to get his family all together and take them out to dinner..... and told me he wanted to take a nice hot bath.
He told me the shot in the butt made his but sore and his leg went dead and when he had to jump out of his rack he was sure he was going to face plant. He hates night watch... says when he gets picked it is from 2200-2400 and he has to stand at attention in case a petty officer comes by but he reads letters when he can. Told me about having to strip his bed and fold everything in a smiley face and that nothing can touch... or you get in big trouble. Also told us about demerits.... guess if the division does bad they get demerits but if they do good then they take them away and his division does not have any demerits. WOO HOO... go divison 078.
I was so excited to get the call I almost did not know how to answer my phone. sorry for the length but want to share with everyone. :-)
