Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hi All.  My son just left Wednesday for Boot, so I feel like I've graduated from the "Blog" site to "Forums."  I have tons of questions on how to go about this whole thing, so bare with me.  For now, I'm just wondering when the first "real" call comes....give or take.  And when the address to write him comes.  I feel like I should be doing something, but I'm at a stand still till I hear from him or get an address.  JessicaB, thank you for your help.  You inspire me to keep going, and maybe someday I will help another mom.  Thanks everyone in advance.....

You should be able to get the temporary address from the recuiter. Here is a great site that will give you a lot of info    http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/index.asp    You'll need Mozilla Foxfire or Google Chrome browser to assess it. if you can't assess it just download on of them...easy and free. You'll need assess to this site to download the parking pass.

you'll get the form letter in a week to 2 weeks...delivered by snail mail. It will have the ship, division, permanant address, grad date and info, password for gate pass (do NOT lose) and a few lines from your rct.

The box of clothes. will be delivered via FedEx it will have his clothes and other things that he couldn't keep at RTC.

And you're welcome for the help. I was in your place about a year ago. Just pay it forward. When your rct is getting ready to graduate....look back and see how the new N4M's comments mirror yours now and let them know that they are not alone and that the feelings they have are normal and will get better

Boy did I ask the right person for help.  Thank you soooo much!  That was a ton of import info. I'm going to check out those sites you sent. I want to learn everything!  And love the "pay it forward"  I definately will!!!  Stay tuned....Im sure I'll have more questions....

here is a good group to join once your rct leaves for boot camp    http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms   just click on the http address then click on +join in the upper right hand corner.
