My son leaves January 4th for boot camp. Anyone else out there leaving then?

My son leaves for boot camp on January 4th, 2011, which is just a week away.  Anyone else out there have a son/daughter leaving this day?  He will be leaving out of Houston and I know it's gonna be so cold in Great Lakes.  He thinks he is ready, but I think he is in store for a surprise and it's not gonna be a hot one!  lol   I'm excited for him, but so nervous!

but i cant text him. his cell came back in the box. : (
no text the recruiter, i have my sons phone from box too

great i will try. thank you

dont worry the boys have each other, im worried too,

My younger son wears glasses and I thought they would be in the box, but they weren't. I joked with him before he left that if he stood in line for the glasses that they would ask him if he had been through there already, his glasses have thick black frames kinda like what they issue for boot camp. : )

so i wonder why they weren't in the box.

Hopefully they didn't throw them away!

ooooh..that would really bite.

I guess he will write about that. right?

How did you get that so quickly?

have you heard yet?
I do know that our recruiter called my husband today to see if we had heard from Nick. We received his box on Tuesday without any information but got a Navy form letter with additional information in it. So if you haven't gotten it-bug your recruiter.

Also, if any of you are focusing on March 4th as PIR (graduation) date and need hotel~don't wait too long to use the list in your envelope. I called last night and there were a few hotels already booked for that weekend. I also was told that PIR is early Friday morning, like 8:00, so maybe you will need to look at Thursday evening stay over. Just some info I learned.

How do you know for sure that the boys are in that group? If they arrive within that a few days of each other is it that date.
