This is the final test for the recruits, and then they become sailors.  It takes place some time during the last 8 days before PIR (Thurs night, none on Fri or Sat nights---Captains Cup on Sat----then can continue Sun-Wed nights).  Up to 4 divisions can go at one time, but sometimes less go.  They start with the lowest numbered divisions going first and work up...with the 800 and 900 divisions going at random times.  This is an overnight drill....on a ship created by Disney so you can imagine how realistic it is.  They are tested on all they have learned...and experience everything that can happen to them when deployed on a ship.  It is a night of adrenaline and excitement for them.  When they finish the next morning, there is a capping ceremony where they trade their recruit caps for their sailor caps...this is their graduation!  PIR is Pass in Review...where they can "impress" all of the families with their sailor status and all that they have learned.  It is quite a proud moment, not only for THEM but for the families too!

They go with their brother divisions...in this case:

49+50, 51+52, 909 can go at any time, with some of these divisions or alone

The day that they finish BattleStations, they will have things assigned to do so they don't call home right away.  They may even have PIR practice before they can make their "I'm a Sailor" call.  Some may even have watch and may not be able to call until the next day.  Calls can start around 2 pm GL time...so keep the cells close all day.  This will truly be the most exciting call that you receive!  Please be sure to ask your new sailor if all in his/her division passed and post that on the board for the others.

Ask your recruit when his/her division is scheduled for BattleStations and post the date on here.  We can try and get an approximate schedule on here then.  It is not an easy feat since there is sometimes discrepancy in the dates, but we can try!

HOOYAH!

From that I'm a Sailor call....through PIR...and time with your sailor....I can't even describe how great the feeling is!  You will never be more proud of your sailor!  Enjoy, Kathy!
Hello Diannep!  Thank you for the information about Battle Stations.  Beyond the initial "I made it here safely" call and the form letter about the PIR, I have not heard from my son. The family wishes things were different, but our son has not invited us to the PIR.  I hope anyone who attends will please share photos of Ship 07 DIV 051.  We will purchase a video when they are made available.  God bless our children and all who serve our country!
Too Talls Mom:  Please go to your division discussion group on the PIR site and ask if any of the ladies there would be willing to get pictures of your son.  The ladies are SO great about doing that...and would love to do that for you since you won't be there.  They do it in every PIR group.  Don't be shy!  :-)   They will love to help.  And those pictures will mean the world to you.  They can post them on the board or email them to you.  So ask!
Dianne, thank you for the advice. I will follow through.

Too Talls Mom...I'm so sorry to hear this...He is your son and even though you have not been invited by him, this is a small group graduating, so you should be able to get into PIR . If I was you I would try and be there no matter what has happened in the the past, this is a big celebration towards his future. I will have an extra ticket myself so  know one extra will be available..

motherof5:  Scroll down and you will see that Too Tall's Mom's son did finally invite them and they are going!  HOOYAH!

I would think so, Cat..hope you get some word soon:) Everyone burn those blue candles proudly!!

Thanks, Ellen.  They will go with 49, their brother division.  I have started the schedule up top off with those 2 divisions.
