My son leaves January 4th for boot camp. Anyone else out there leaving then?

My son leaves for boot camp on January 4th, 2011, which is just a week away.  Anyone else out there have a son/daughter leaving this day?  He will be leaving out of Houston and I know it's gonna be so cold in Great Lakes.  He thinks he is ready, but I think he is in store for a surprise and it's not gonna be a hot one!  lol   I'm excited for him, but so nervous!

sunshine   when is your PIR
His PIR is March 4th which has a group already. I haven't found anyone else in his division, yet.

Hang in there sunshine, there should be others popping up,and we will be close to each other, same ship different Div..

your sons are most likely in "brother divisions" which means they share a compartment but then (if it is an integrated division) they split up to do their daily routine, but usually only travel to the same places a few minutes apart.. Does that make sense?
Thanks Sunshine and  Mommabeast.  I finally got an e-mail from my son's recruiter with my son's address.  Wow you ladies are good with your prayers. Thank you so much.
Hi, my daughter is leaving MEPS today from Tampa, FL. When should I be expecting her to call home and let me know that she made it to Great Lakes okay?
Ours came at about 10:30pm, but he did not have as far to fly. Your call will be short. Mine said "Hi, I'm here, you will get a package. You may get another call, I love you, bye". You probably won't even have a chance to say anything back before she hangs up. Training starts immediatley even though they are processing. We got his box in a few days and a form letter this past Friday. They get to write on Sundays, so about a week after that you should get thier first real letter. That is what we are waiting on now. Your recruiter should be able to get her address about 2-3 days from now.
In reply to Conster1114, my son called me when he landed in Chicago and still on the plane.  Then he called me at 1:30AM in the morning to tell me he had made it to boot camp.  It was a short 4-5 second call.  "Hi mom, I'm here, I will call you in about 3 weeks, I love you, bye."

Hi Nick's mom.  My son Letief has left from Atlanta on the 5th of Jan, 2011, to Great Lakes.  I am excited to be in touch with you.

Thank you.

Welcome!  You will find lots of good information on this site.  It's so nice being able to communicate to other mother's going through the same thing. What ship/division is your son in?

My boyfriend left that day and is in Div 916 Ship 02. Anyone else's other half on the same?
My oldest is laundry petty officer and his younger brother works for him...
