Hi Jeffs mom,

My son is behind yours.  He is still at GL.  Did your son report the next day to Groton?  Were you able to go to the airport to spend time with him?

What was BESS like?  I have lots of questions. sorry

Hi Gayle,
We didn't go to the airport after bootcamp. We just spent the weekend with him & left Sunday night. My son graduated on Nov. 19 & flew out Nov. 23 from Chicago to Groton. BESS is like college except for duty & muster. My son graduates next Friday, Feb.11. Then he has A school at least for 10 months. He likes being at Groton! It is a very small town but the Navy shuttle takes you places! Good luck to your son!

Thanks MaryLee..

I see my son in 2 weeks for PIR.   Can't wait.  He said to stop writing because the letters will not be able to follow him easily.  Can't wait to get his electronics to him to speed things along.  Do you have Skype??  Wonder how that works.

Gayle

Hi, We don't have Skype but we talk to Jeff on Facebook & his cell phone. I can't wait to see Groton! Good luck to your son. PIR is a wonderful experience! So moving! We spent the weekend just doing small things. Jeff had adjustment issues being away from base for the first time in 8 weeks! Also his division guys wanted to still do things together. My son matured so much in 8 weeks! Enjoy your visit with your son!

Hey sub moms,

Where are you?  How is Bess?  What is A school like at Groton?

Hi! I spent the weekend of graduation with him. He graduated on a Friday & left for Groton on Tuesday. Being on base is mostly like college. The dorms are the same as college. He is now on hold after BESS graduation for the ATT class to start. We had a great time at BESS graduation! It is amazing how much the guys learn & change. They are men now!
Hi all,
Well they went for underwater escape training and were turned away today. Canceled for some reason. Fire fighting tomorrow. MMmmmmm. Anyone know anything else going on??

Hi everyone,

Today was suppose to be the tank training  for BESS.   Very interesting test.  They say it is a very long 8 seconds or so.? Is that right?  He can't leave the base for 24 hours to see how he does?

Is there a Charles's mom from Atlanta at Groton?  College grad too?
Hi! The only time I was worried was battle stations week at bootcamp. I saw the video on what happens but Jeff said it was ok. He made it through even the tear gas! My son enjoyed BESS. He is now in ATT. Unfortunately it is a late night class so his days & nights are reversed! By the way, I am from Fulton,NY about 4-5 hours from Groton. It is a nice drive!

Hi,

Lucky to be so close.  I'm from Port Huron, MI.  Won't make Bess graduation.  It's at least 12 hours  or more to Groton .  We wont be able to get the time off.  Matt is sounding more and more excited as his training progresses.  He is going for Navigation.

Hi Gayle, My son is going for ET navigation! Isn't it wonderful to see our sons doing so well! My son is almost done with ATT next week I think. He now wants his car! He gets bored easily & there is only so much to do on base! Good luck to your son!
