Anyone else out there have someone leaving for bootcamp on Jan 31?  We're having a going away party  and people are asking what to get for my daughter.  Any suggestions?

They shouldn't get her anything, except for maybe a phone card or a book of stamps.  There is very little she can take with her.   A very nice, and useful, gesture would be to donate to the USO; she will undoubtedly be spending time there when she transits O-Hare.  I love the USO, I gave my nephew who is on a sub a donation in his name for Christmas.

My fiancee left January 31st, as well. Have you received anything else besides the box?

My daughter didn't ship out until Feb 8 because of flight cancellations.  I'm not planning on getting her box until next week at the earliest.  When did you get your fiancee's box?  Have you received anything else?
Oh! He flew out of Miami. His flight wasn't canceled though! I got his box on Feb 5th. So I'd say you should get it in about 2 or 3 days. Haven't received the form letter yet or anything else. Waiting for letters from him, now! And a phone call would be great too! This is way harder than I thought it was going to be! :( I find myself sad very often since he left! Without knowing he is doing well I get so worried and sad!

I feel the exact same way!  My daughter went to BC with a prescription for strep and they made her throw her antibiotics away! I was sick to my stomach :(

I did get my daughter's address today.  Can't wait to send out letters.  The postal service is going to make a lot of money from me these next eight weeks :)

Hang in there!  From what I've read and heard from other N4M's the feelings and emotions are pretty much the norm with a lot of the people. It doesn't make us feel better but at least we know there's others out there going through it also.  I keep telling myself, this is what my daughter wanted and she set her mind to it, and I am so PROUD!

My son shipped out on Feb 8th as well ( out of  Los Angeles) and I am  a total wreck .... I know he will do good not sure I  am going to make it for these next 2 months though :)  how did you get her address so fast ?

Hang in there!  I called her recruiter, he was able to give me her division and ship number and also her address.  Let me know what you find out.

thank you I  will call tomorrow then  I didnt want to call  until next week as to not be the ansey mother  hahaah but I will :) can i add you as a friend and if so  can you tell me how as I am very new to this  thanks again

Sure, just click on my picture and there will be "add as a friend" underneath the picture.  I noticed your from colorado, too!  Talk to you soon.

I keep meaning to call my fiances recuiter to get his address but it always slips my mind! ughh! and i've already wrote a ton of letters to him. I need to mail this phone card off ASAP! So if he gets to make a phone call he'll call my cell phone. I sit home everyday thinking he's going to call by some chance.

And this was his choice to join and  I'm very proud of him as well! He has get qualities and the Navy suits him perfectly! He is truly my hero! Ah! Can't wait until BC is over!!
