OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son is in the same predicament. He graduated boot camp Thanksgiving and has been in holding at Corry Station since then. And, from what I've been told, there's nothing they can do but wait. My son was also very disappointed because he worked so hard to get to A school only to be told he might be at the base a year instead of just the few months of school.

Thank you so much for your note. How horrible. Amazing how the government is paying these guys to do nothing. They know well in advance whether there are openings or not......... Has your son found anything else to do or how often do they give him updates?

My son has finally classed up. And, actually he was pretty shocked. There are usually only 2 classes ~ Alpha and Bravo. Well, he was classed up to a Charlie class...which runs from 6:30 pm to midnight!!! This is the first time they have tried this. There are a few struggles - like when can they eat because they will sleep through breakfast and maybe even lunch and dinner will be served when they are in school...yet, they are taking money out of their checks for 3 meals a day at the galley! And, how are they going to stand duty? But, they were all told the kinks will be worked out.
Before that he was put in charge of a work crew for the church. He didn't mind that...because he had something specific to do. But, was excited when he classed up. And, he was told at 6 that morning that he had to report to class at noon that day! Then, they told them about the new class and the timeline. So, there is hope that the wait process won't be too bad. -

My grandson finished CTR A school on Dec. 18. He left BC in Great Lakes on July 20th and was told there could be as much as 3-4 months wait. His name was called at muster in late August to report the next day and he started and was in school for approximately 14 weeks. He didn't apply for chit to come home because he thought he would be sent to another base and would get 2 weeks, guess again, when his hard copy finally came in this week he is to do a C school in Codes, including Morse Code there at Pensacola . He will start on Feb. 16 and will go until July 17 and then go to Ft. Meade, MD.
He has been kept busy most of the time, cleaning rooms, and running errands for one of his higher ups. They will keep them busy but don't place any thing on the times and dates. Just tell them to keep clean and behave them selves. They still have to keep clean rooms and be there for muster. He is still excited about the Navy and going to Ft. Meade was the ultimate for him. I noticed this thread is about a year old but my husband just got to Corry St. for CTR and he is in holding. Do we know if all of this was worked out or is anyone else having a similar experience?
Any and all information would be helpful -

Yes, its true. There is a back up. But remember it's not just because there's no school seats, alot of it is because they are still working on the SBI clearance.
As far as college, she can take any online college she wants, but the Navy won't pay for it. The money must come out of her pocket. There is a rule that says that Sailors will not receive college benefits until 1 year after they report to their 1st duty station. The Navy wants them focused. Yes, I know you'll say, but she's in holding company for 8 months. Ok, suppose she signed up for college, and then they happened to have a school seat open and your daughter is told you will start next week. How would she stay focused on both the Navy and college? This is why the Navy doesn't pay. If she does take college, and this happens, you can always suck it up and drop the class, but you're still out the money.
What I recommend she does is take CLEP test. This is a 45 minute test, and if she passes she gets the college credit. I bet the Navy would pay for that....Have her check with the Education Service Office (ESO)...

My husband is in the same situation now. He arrived to Pcola Saturday and was told on Monday that he was going to be there 6-10 months instead of 15 weeks. No mention of C school yet. Now we're trying to figure out either 1)how to get me over there or 2)how to get the gas money to visit him a few times a month. I was receiving unemployment benefits for a year due to be laid off and STILL cannot find a job so his paychecks are the only thing supporting us right now. I guess having a college degree isn't coming in handy quite as much as they said it would, lol!

My son is at Corry Station for CTN and he is also "holding". He got there Tuesday and was told he would probably be at Corry Station for the rest of the year. His CTN classes are 6 months. He didn't know when he would class up either. He has done his FBI interviews, we haven't at home been contacted by anyone about interviews and I am wondering if we will even be contacted. He said if he had to be "holding" that he would rather it be at Corry instead of NAS. Corry is a little more relaxed.

My son is CTI but has had to go through SSBI and all the security stuff like those at Corry. We were never contacted by anyone concerning his investigation. Some parents are, some aren't. I suppose it would depend on if they can get what they need without talking to you.

My husband's parents weren't contacted but his sister in law who lives right next door did.

I had about 7 people tell me they have had their interview already for my husband but im in the same situation as camenae.
Its tough because i live all the way on the other side of the east coast...in maine haha driving a couple of times a month isnt an option. And i could just move there with no navy help but what if they start sooner than expected? and on the other side of the coin i could wait but how long do i wait 3-4 months? 1 or 2? at what point will we know?! haha
and again no word of c-school :o( -
