Lori...yay! congrats...and yay that he went to get medical help...
I called N tonight...I don't usually call him...I let him text or email me, but I wanted to hear his voice. He does sound somewhat better...I still think he needs to see the dr! But we ended up having a long phone conversation...more info than what he shares on email.
He said that there are some sailors who really are not doing well and may get pushed back! He thinks some are even going to be sent out of there. He is doing really well with the hands on stuff, but he is just doing average on the tests. He says he is passing, but not getting the 90's. He says that fortunately the tests are only part of it and he is really doing well on the other stuff. He has heard that Aschool is going to be really hard. Heard a little apprehension in his voice.
He thinks they will be reaching the Blue phase by this weekend.
So that is my quick update...gotta finish grading papers...story of my life! :)
Penny
Hi...just got off the phone with IB... he says that they won't phase up by the weekend after all because ONE GUY (that's all it takes I guess) didn't turn in his liberty card. WOW!!! That one person can affect all of them is so totally sucky. But, I guess it is the way the Navy works. I imagine he is not very popular right now.
I sent IB a Subway card for Valentine's Day and he said it was great because there is a Subway on base. It was a calculated guess on my part, so it's good it all worked out!!
Penny, report cards and grading...my life too!! :-)
Nancy
Oh no! That just felt like a punch in the gut! N was trying to surprise us with a visit...I imagine that is going to affect it! :(
He was worried something like that was going to happen! Some of these guys are definitely not taking this seriously! :(
Hi Groton moms....I have also heard about some of the guys being pushed back or separated from the Navy very sad. I spoke to T last night and he said that it wasn't definite yet that they weren't phasing up this weekend, he said they would find out in the next day, they probably already know by now....I hope for Penny that the one's that deserve to get to blue card are there by Friday...it is awful that 1 person can ruin it for everyone, especially the ones that are doing the right thing and deserve the additional liberty.
Nancy - what a great idea about the Subway card, I may have to steal the idea, I wonder if the cards are reloadable..hhmm
Congratulations Theresa! Welcome to our discussion forum! I hope your son likes Groton as much as mine does!
Funny about the Subway card - I just bought A one and am sending tomorrow in a card just to say hello and have lunch or dinner on me!
Interesting story - I sent out 2 boxes to A last week - 1 for Valentines Day and the other his Civy Clothing. the Valentines Day box arrived Monday. The other box didn't. On my front porch today is the other box! With a stamp that says insufficient address! Same address I've used on all his boxes - so will take it back to the PO tomorrow. Uggghhhh It was a $25 ship so hoping I don't have to pay $$ again. Guess A won't have his civy clothing by the weekend. :-(
Big test tomorrow gals - pray our boys do well! Hoping their mandatory studies help their scores. A's cold is finally feeling better today. He also hurt his back lifting 2 nights ago and that is better today too! Whew!
(Hugs)
Hi Theresa. How exciting!! You will like it SO much better than boot camp!! Lots more ability to contact your kid!! Plus, what one of us knows, we share!! So even if I don't hear info from my son, I find out everything I need to know here!! :-)
Well, did I tell you guys that IB found Rose's son?? too funny...I was telling him that I had been chatting with Rose and some info about her and he decides to walk around asking the guys if their first name was ?? (Don't think she shares his initial) and then he FOUND him!! OMG Says that is how he found Sara's son when he was in BC!! It is too funny how our kids find each other in the midst of all the other guys who are there isn't it!!
On another subject, I am doing an arthritis walk for my other son who has arthritis. If you are interested in sponsoring me, send me a PM...i can send you a link to our team site.
So jealous of all of you who live close enough to make trips to see the graduation. I have told IB that I can make it for the final one, and am trying to talk hubby into a trip for spring break!! we'll see I guess. Have a super FRIDAY!!!
Nancy
Yay for BLUE CARDS! N is coming home this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! I am so very excited! He is so funny! He won't tell me how or when....because he ruined the surprise earlier, he still wants to keep part of it a surprise! He is so funny!
I am going to get up very early and go grocery shopping....since it is Friday and I have had something to do every night...our fridge is bare! Not very welcoming! I wish I had more time this week...I would have made things really special for him...oh well, he is use to our crazy life! :)
Welcome Theresa! You survived Boot Camp, so you will definitely feel better about BESS. We are excited to have you join us!
I am going to try to find out more about graduation when he gets home...I still haven't given up on it yet!
Well ladies, I'm not staying on too long...gotta a big weekend to plan for! :)
