Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

LAST MINUTE HINTS FOR PIR

1. Make sure to take proper ID for all members of your family (driver's license is fine)

2. Be sure to have the gate pass if you are driving. I kept one in my purse just in case even though taking the shuttle.

3. FLYING when your "I'm a Sailor" call may come in? Change your voicemail on your cell to this: Hi, (sailor's name), we are flying to come to your PIR right now and had to turn the phone off. Please leave me a LONG message, and call back to leave more if necessary! We are so proud of you!
That way, when you can turn your phone back on, you will hear your NEW SAILOR's voice and have word from him/her.

4. I can't stress this enough....GET TO THE BASE EARLY ON FRIDAY! Be on the earliest shuttle or in the car line by 6 a.m. Take snacks to eat once you arrive if you want. Those arriving later will have little choice in seating...we were seated by 7 a.m. WONDERFUL

5. Find your division honor guard (has div flag with him/her) and sit in section right in front of him/her. Spot the huge rollup door on the far end of the PIR Hall. This is where your sailor will be marching in. CHILLLS and GOOSEBUMPS!

6. Remember, pictures INSIDE THE PIR HALL ONLY! None allowed on the base.

7. You don't have a lot of time with your sailor in the PIR Hall....they will urge you to get out after some photos. Your sailor will return to their ship to get their pictures for you....could take a while....arrange a place to meet him/her on base.

8. Your sailor will be well versed in the rules for sailors. In uniform only when in public (even in pool, Navy-issued swimsuit). No drinking, no smoking. Civilian clothes (if you brought some) allowed in the hotel room only. They ARE being watched when out in public. There are consequences for disobeying the rules....PLEASE make sure you allow plenty of time to get them back on base. They have a long walk back to their ships. Loss of liberty if they are late for the next day. We got ours back to base 30 minutes early.

9. Bring LOTS of kleenex! HAPPY TEARS!

10. Lastly and most important....ENJOY TIME WITH YOUR NEW SAILOR! CONGRATS

Don't know if this was covered but remember no driving and talking on a cell phone while on base. This is a big no no.  Also, my MASN told me that while in uniform they couldn't carry anything.  Something to think about when at the mall.  She also may have been trying to get out of carrying anything but in retrespect, I didn't see any new grads carrying anything at the mall.  Also be forewarned, my daughter fought with me over paying for things. She wanted to foot the bill so be prepared.  Also, if you go into Chicago, be prepared for dropping mega bucks to park.  We paid $25.00 to park in a parking garage for 4 hrs so it could be steep.

Sailors can't even walk and talk on the cell phone while in uniform, very strict. Also about the paying, warn them in advance, it is nice to pay for things, seeing as though they have a bit of money accrued but that it shouldn't be a habit. Keeping good financial habits is something they will be taught so they should keep it up. The parking situation...I wouldn't drive to Chicago if it saved my life...traffic is horrible! Best thing to do is take the train.

Just to clarify, my son's recruiter said the Navy is no longer using " Charter" flights for Sailors going to A school. Family members can meet your sailor at the airport.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command The dress code? Or what the recruits will be in? Recruits are still in their dress blues. There is no dress code for guests and we see everything from jeans and t-shirts to suits and prom dresses. We always recommend to guests that they should picture how they wish to appear while standing next to their recruits in their new dress uniforms.

HELP.... I lost my DL and went and got a new one but is that going to prevent me from getting in??? PLEASE does anyone know

You need a government issued ID with a picture on it. A passport will also work. If you have concerns, please contact the Recruit Training Command at Public Affairs Office 847-688-2405 or rtc.pao@navy.mil .

any word on liberty? i've heard they dont get overnight liberty but he said since he's grad and go he might be able to.

Skipper Lintner the liberty policy will be that the new students have liberty until 9:pm on Friday. They will get to go back on liberty at 7:30 Saturday but will have to return by 9:pm. Same thing on Sunday. This is a Command decision made for the purposes of equal treatment for RTC graduates coming to TSC. I realize it may not be a popular decision for everyone but its onethat I feel is in the best interest of the Navy.March 4 at 4:46pm
