Theresa so glad you found us...welcome if you have questions ask us what one may not know someone wil or can help find out for you....you are going to love the amount of communication you now have with your Sailor wwaaayy better then BC
That is so so exciting Penny!  I am really happy for you ((hugs))!!!  Are you about 3 hours from Groton??  Can't wait to hear about your visit - take pictures.  My A did well on the test too - he's really glad and geeked about getting the blue card.  He has been texting me from a cab - on his way to a Casino with friends.  The Casino is beautiful.  This is his first time off base since arriving in Groton in December.  My box of civy clothing didn't arrive so he texted me earlier asking what size jeans he wears!  He must have bought a new pair at the NEX.  Have a good weekend everyone!

Nancy..... I ask my son the other day if he saw your son again or talk to him and he told me your son is in his class.

ElizabethC.......Your right may be they know each other.  May be we meet next month in  BESS graduation.

Penny....I'm so happy for you.  Have a super weekend with your son, enjoy him.  This is the time I wish we live more near to the base.

Talk to my son this morning and he is in blue card.  He told me is been a "crapy" two weeks because petty oficers, civilians, and all this other people been on top of them telling them all the bad job that they are doing.  Look like a few kids don't want to be there no more so they making the other look bad.  I can hear his fustration and I told him to not worry and do his best.  They have to do it as a group like the phrase said "for one everybody pay"  but at the end they will look individually.  I don't thing that if they see a guy doing everything right, passing the tests they going to do something bad.  Is true that already 2 or 3 been discharge, doing very bad.  Is so sad that this kids are behaving like that but is better now that in the future.

Very late, but just had such a wonderful day and I wanted to share! :) When I get a few minutes I will share some stories...Lori our boys are quite the buddies...will try to share more tomorrow...have to get to bed...N and I are going to the Y at 8:00 tomorrow morning before church!!!!! :)

night!

Penny

Penny - I just figured out that "Skinner" is your sailor this morning -  I did a little investigation - see my PM.  Yes, I'm pretty geeked to find out A's good friend is your boy!!!  Was wondering if you came to the same conclusion by the end of the weekend!  Small World isn't it :-)
my son arrived there tues called me wensday and thurs i overnited his phone he should of got it fri and  havent heard anything im worried something happenend..i tried calling his phone and its off. i heard they put them in a room for 24hrs when they first get there does anyone know if this is true?
Theresa - if it didn't arrive at the NEX by Friday or if he didn't have time to get to the NEX before he could pick up his phone this could be the problem.  I think he is o.k. and I think he doesn't have his phone yet or it would be on.  No news is good news.  My son never told me anything about being in a room for 24 hours upon arrival.  It did take him some time to get settled the 1st day there.  My sailors situation is a bit different as he arrived at base while still on holiday stand down; he flew from home to Groton, not from RTC to Groton.  He had a lot of freedom to explore base, go to the NEX, and just roam the first week.  Your son may have a bit more of a scheduel immediately upon arrival than my son had.  If you don't hear from him Monday / Tuesday, you could tell one of us his bldg. / room number and we could see if one of our sailors could swing by and let him use their phone to call you.   Groton is wonderful; all news I've heard thus far.  I hope he has gotten settled and and enjoying the environment - it is different than BC.  Hang in there!  (Hugs)

Theresa...I am sure everything is fine, but like Lori said if he didn't get to the NEX on time he may not have picked up the package you sent him....and another thought depending on what address you send the package to it could be in an adminstrative office and they be gone for the weekend and Monday is a holiday so I don't know if anyone that would be in charge of deliveries would be around.  I agree with Lori we could send one of the other boy's out in search of him...they are pretty good about seeking out other N4Ms Sailor's even though they don't admit it I think they think the connection is pretty cool.....if you don't want to wait...send me a PM with his name, building and room and I will get in touch with my son for you (I think he is on base today) all the BESS guys are in the same area so I don't think it would be a big deal for them...heck they could all be hanging out in the liberty room right now...haha.  Did your son go to Groton with any other Sailor's from his division in BC?   My son had told me that he really likes it in Groton, he went to downtown New London on Friday and really liked it and the people in the area are friendly and helpful from what I understand as well...I think your son is probably fine and just exploring the base.

Lori and Penny....how awesome your boy's are good friends....:0)

Hi Theresa...I have my son sitting right here and he said, no, they don't hold you in a room for 24 hours. If  you can have Elizabeth's son talk to him that would be great. N just gave me a list of directions to pass on...although I don't know how you will pass it on, but here goes. He said: go to the NEX and then go to the flower/package shop and see if there is a package for him. If not, he should go to the main Quarterdeck where he came in and got checked in. He should go to the mail room and ask there.

Good luck. Once he gets his phone and computer you will have so much more contact with him! It is really nice. We are getting spoiled...I know it will be like boot camp all over again when they go to sea and we have no contact! But we won't worry about that now!

I have loved hearing the stories! Some make me smile...some I wish I didn't know! (If you know what I mean!)

Well I'll catch up again later!

Penny

Hey ladies, I just posted some new pics of the weekend with N. Feel free to check them out! :)
Penny.....I'm so HAPPY for you.  I saw the pictures and Your are so lucky to be so near, I'm sure he will be going home with frequency.  Glad your having a awesome weekend!
