That's right Moms!  We are going to the mountains of Afghanistan in March.  Our group is 300 Marines (15 females)  They are HMH-465 Det A.

We have some baseball fans in our adoptees SO since we are entering spring - spring training that is - our theme for the month is BASEBALL!  In addition to their requests let's give them some baseball goodies to celebrate the start of the baseball season.  Some suggestions:  baseball cards, shredded Big League Gum, shredded jerkey, peanuts, popcorn, cracker jack, sunflower seeds.  Stats on teams, pennants, game day programs, sports magazines, - whatever you can think of!

Pillowcases are always appreciated and don't forget those cards and letters!

Their requests:

k-cups for Keurig coffee maker - Timothy's caribou and Irish Cream are their favorites,

Orville Reddenbocker popcorn

corn nuts - all flavors but ranch is their favorite

bite size candy bars and M&Ms

smart Food's cheddar pop corn

magazines - workout, bow hunting, field & stream, boating

salt & pepper shakers

body soap and shampoo

chips (Tostitos and Munchies)

tuna

nature valley crunch bars

Of course, feel free to add to their list.  They have refrigeration and a microwave.  There are 15 females in their unit.

Our mailing dates will be March 21-28th.  I'll post the address in the address group soon.  And I'll be getting a count of boxes and pillowcases as we get closer so I can warn - er, notify, our contact, hee hee!

It is cold and raining there.  It's about 36 degrees in the city but they are in the mountains so it must be colder.

Brenda Sue  at one time I asked my 2 cousins (that have been to a-stan a few times) to make me a general list of things for over there and hand and feet warmers were high on the list..

I might have a couple of new pillow case sewers for us ....keep your fingers crossed....oh on forget that ....won't be much sewing going on if fingers are crossed

I'm also very humbled by the request list  salt and pepper shakers???? brings tears to my eyes

I can send a package of soap, shampoo and creme rinse. I can make up individual packages with one of each item. Should I do just the females or some for the guys without the creme rinse?
I would like to claim a box or two for the girls. I will get this knee working and make 15 pillowcases for them. I can bend it a little easier now and I am off the heavy drugs. Apparently January was a fun month for my daughter and boyfriend. I don't remember much but the packing party. lol. I think the Washington moms will be doing a packing party but I will need to get with Susan on that one. I know we were talking about one. So that would be one to put on the list. I am going to give this link to my sister. She is working on a surprise for me. Keep your fingers crossed!
Ooooo, I am excited!  Hubby said we can go shopping today at Costco!!!

I get so confused!  I always start looking for the "like" button as I read these!!

Susan and I talked about a packing party at the end of the month. So be looking  for the invite in the Washington moms group. I am thinking my therapy place and dentists office need some letters for donations.

There are some really great ideas here!  Our entire family loves baseball so we are going to have some fun with this I am sure.  I was thinking of asking my son to go to his unit in NYPD and see what they might do for our adoptees.  Course that will mean a bunch of Yankee stuff.  Don't know how I feel about that coming from Red Sox nation, but I guess I could tolerate even the Yankees for our babies.  LOL

Our Community Charity Sewing of Pillowcases may come up just in time for this group, but if not MA Navy Moms will have pc's for April's group.

I've seen hand and feet warmers at Target and sometimes at the Dollar Tree.  I'll go tomorrow and see what I can find.  I think the men asked for shampoo and body wash also.  He said that the large sizes were fine.
I put all liquids or gels or soaps in ziplocks. Never know when one will burst. Keep things a bit neater just in case. I have been busy, I am happy to say I sat at my sewing machine and was able to finally sew again!!!!! A bit stiff getting back up but I am a happy camper now. I can keep some of my boredom at bay.
YEAH!  Nancy can sit at the sewing machine again.  Hugs, dearie.

So, are there going to be packing parties? I'm thinking of having a small one myself but am a little nervous about it. I have all the info I need, regarding the paperwork etc. Guess I better sh%# or get off the pot and just do it, huh?

I've already started picking up my goodies; this is going to be a fun month as we are big baseball lovers. I can't wait to dig in!
