FINALLY recieved my first letter today!!!!  Was written on Feb.21st...Took a very long time to get here.  Also recieved a phone call last Friday which was so exciting....Everything seems to be good, very busy. Early to bed, and early to rise.  7 min. showers, which I know he is not use too. Looking forward to PIR.   It was short and sweet, and so good to hear from him.

So happy to hear that other moms in this div. are finally hearing from our loved ones. Hope to meet you during our stay.

No letter today...what is up with 808?

no letter for me either......has anyone in Div 808 heard anything at all?

Still no letter from my son either, Div 808.  I am leaving town with my younger son tomorrow until the end of the week for a school trip, so I won't have access to the computer. Hopefully, we will hear something in the next couple of days.  At least we know it's the entire division and not just one person.  Maybe, their trainee for the mail disbursement is running a little behind!!

Any updates?

Hi Mommy Seal, I thought I was already a member but I guess not...  I saw some of the other groups you have joined I think I will join some of those as well.. Has anybody heard any updates from your SR

Hi Everyone,

I booked a hotel:

Residence Inn Chicago Lake Forest/Mettawa

26325 N Riverwoods Boulevard,
Mettawa, Illinois 60045 USA
Phone: 1-847-615-2701 Fax: 1-847-615-2702

2 bedroom suite with a kitchen for $868, we are staying 4 days. Its about 9 miles from base. Rooms look nice, free breakfast, and a little privacy since his girlfriend will be staying as well. Thought we could save a little money not eating out as much. Also, I use Groupon in San Diego and have been checking the Groupon Chicago daily for special deals, I mapquest it and if its within the 50 miles I check it out. Have gotten some good deals ($20 for $50 worth of food.) I'm also going to try and print out some of my coupons and put in letters. Our kids will be getting weekend leave once they get to pre-buds and this will be a cheap way for them to go out (they will have about another 3 months in Chicago after bootcamp before they come to San Diego) Can't wait to meet everyone as well as your sons.  Once they hit buds they will be down the street from me and I hoping to keep all the moms updated on their kids. All your sons are welcome in my home once they arrive and start getting leave. Looking forward to meeting a great bunch of young men and the familes that raised them! Anyone else staying at this hotel?

Thanks for sharing this information! I am still trying to figure out all my plans to get there and where to stay. So great that you get to be so close to where buds is! My husband and I are expecting a baby mid July and hate that he will be in training while this new chapter of our life starts. I sure am proud of him though! Fingers crossed a letter comes today! I am at work right now and don't get off till 5:30.

P.S. I am dying to know what the hold up is on the letters!

still no letter :(  so difficult to go so long without hearing from them!!!!  Hang in NMoms!!!

My son is in Div 807, and only one letter so far.  Maybe they're working our guys into total exhaustion, and no energy for letter writing.  :}   Any info anyone gets regarding the division dynamics or anything, please share.  I have so many unanswered questions.

I still have not received a letter, but my son called Friday and talked for over 30 minutes.  I was out of town so he talked to my husband.  He said he mailed first letter home this past Thursday, so we should be receiving one any time.

So happy that you finally heard from him.  Did your husband say he sounds good?
He's homesick.  Said it was a little hard to make friends because they keep moving people around. The division has lost almost twenty guys already.  He is a section leader, but they fear he may have asthma.  He has played sports his entire life, even in college, and never had problems, so I am not sure what is going on.  I hope it it just the change in climate. He is supposed to go back to medical next week for more tests, so we will see. Asthma disqualifies him from the seal program and maybe the Navy.
