Just received a 4 page letter from my son today.  The best surprise ever.  Did not expect anything for another week.  I am a happy happy mom.  He is eating good, feeling good, and doing good, I basically know what he ate the whole time he's been there.  I have not had this much info from him since he was in grade school.  They seem to shut us out then but the Navy has brought him back.  Ladies when you receive your letters charish them.  They are tired and miss us.  The letters do them good and us good.  The one thing he stated was that he wanted a lot of letters from his family.  He must not have gotten the half dozen I sent out already.  I hope he will have them soon.
I'm so glad you got letters!  How exciting!  I hope this means that mine is on its way.  It seems to take a day or two longer to get to me.  I'm in New York.

Hello families.... I got my letter today too!!! I am so thrilled!! You are all so right the letters mean everything to them and us!!! Nothing like an encouraging word from us and a reassuring word from them they are making it through. My SR said she had not gotten mail as of first mail call, but knows we are writing and it will get to her. That made me feel good! When all of our letters catch up to them they will be on mail overload! LOL  Keep the information coming everyone! Sharing will help us all too!!!

I know the PT is hard on them and esp for the ladies. Seems they like to talk which only leads to more PT. It was good to hear about watch duty, their blue camo, marching, swim test, snow, food, first PT...I told my SR I wanted the good, the bad and the ugly...to share it all!

Best wishes to everyone and BIG smiles from Arkansas and congrats on all your letters...many more to come I hope!

Tam

Hi all,

Finally receieved a letter from our daughter yesterday!!!! She is doing ok but really missing her family mostly her nephews. We write her every night and so im hoping she will get our letters soon. I know she will be fine cause she is really a strong person.

Hi all,

Got a letter today.  This is one happy mom!  My son misses home a lot, but he's doing ok and trying to get used to Navy life.  My son is very strong also.  I can't wait to see him next month!  I hope you all have a great day!

YAY!!! Ship 9 Division 134 Family!!!  Im so glad I found this link with the help of another Sailor Mom.  I got ALL of my Husbands letters yesterday and his form letter which includes his Grad date of 4/15.  He has written me every night since he has been there..so I had alot of reading.  I love my Hubby, and he even told me he shares a bunk with another sailor that he has been become friends with.  I am so PROUD of my Sailor future Airman.  I have been sending him lots of letters as well.

Can't wait to get to know you Moms, Wives, and Girlfriends in Ship 9 Division 134. I hope they are not calling him "old Man"..HAHHAHA

NavyWife :)

So glad everyone is finding there way to the discussion. There is a group for Ship 9 Div 134 but I do not think it is being used.  Also, so glad everyone is getting letters and hearing from their SR's!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well...Smiles from Arkansas ~ Tam

P.S. Does anyone have information on the swim test. The 5 min prone float. Are the able to lift their head for air? Just curious maybe that is a silly questions, but the websites I have researched were not real detailed?!

Hi Tammie - I do not know about the swim test.  Wish we had more answers sometimes but I think it's just that we miss our SR's so much and want to know what's going on in their day-to-day lives.  Hope all is well in Arkansas.  Ohio is still under a flood watch.:)

Waiting to get a call from our son...would love to hear his voice again.  I'm sure there are others out there thinking the same.  No matter - they are working hard to become sailors and we are so proud of them all!!

I also got my letter frosm my daughter this week.  She made me laugh and cry all in the same few minutes it took me too read it.  She has not received our letters yet.  That made me sad because she thought we forgot about her.  When she gets her letters I am sure she will know she is loved and how proud we are of her.  i can't wait to be able to talk to her.  I hope it is soon.  I am so used to talking to her or texting her everyday.

Patty....You are right it is the hardest not knowing, but they are all working hard to overcome what is infront of them to start thier Navy careers.  It will be amazing to see them at graduation standing so tall and strong! Proud for what THEY have overcome!

Arkansas is Arkansas.....30 or colder at night with some warm days.  It is cooler today. Ya just never know around here! LOL We always say if you dont like the weather right now just stay a little while it will change! LOL

Smiles from Arkansas ~ Tam

Hang in their ladies!  My sailor graduated from bc in October of 2010 and I remember oh so well what you are going through.  I know that right now it seems like there are so many ups and downs and twists in this roller coaster ride.  Your recruits are working hard and yes they miss thier families very much.  Just keep sending words of encouragement and remind them that bc isn't forever.  You have a lot to accomplish in the next 39 days.  If you have any questions just ask me, if I don't know I will find out.

Tammie - on the swim, they can breathe as often as they want.  They do have to float prone for 5 minutes but can take as many breaths as they need.

You are all in  my prayers and remember this is only for a short time.
