OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ship 9 Div 133

Anyone out there who's love ones are in the Ship 9 Div 133???  I feel so left out.

BTW...I am from South Florida, feeling the pain of all who live in the north.  Weather here is a balmy 75 and sunny.

My son is Ship 9 Div 133.  His fiance got a call from him today and has received a letter from him....we miss him so much!  He seems to be doing well.

Yup, as Margot said I got the phone call today. Best half hour ever - he's in Ship 9 Div 133. I can't wait until PIR!  He had his wisdom teeth taken out, poor lamb. But otherwise he says things are good. He's making friends, which I'm really glad for. It's so nice to see other family members with SR's in the same Division. :)

Ladies, I also received a call today.  I was so happy to hear from my daughter.  She was really sad.  I was happy to hear she passed the swim test and passed the first academic test.  However, she failed her run test by 2 minutes.  She developed "shin splints", and has been put on light duty.  She got x-rays taken today and has been to physical therapy a couple of times.  Doctor told her to ice three times and day and continue therapy.  Her next PT test is next Friday.  GOD I hope she does well.  She's never had problems with her shin splints so im not sure why this happened.  Im concern now it may set her back and wont graduate, if it doesnt get better, she'll be sent home.

Got my call also and it was about a half hour....doing fine....likes the food.....classes are good....folding is something he needs to practice....a little worried about the PT test but doesn't think it will be a problem....will call again in about three weeks....great half hour......

Poor thing! I hope her shins get better. I'm sure they'll do everything they can to get her to pass, they've invested money in her and it's obviously something she wants to do. :)

Thank you Paula.  She is really disappointed in herself, feels like a failure.  The Navy is doing everything they can from her, she has Physical Therapy a couple of times a week, so Im praying she will do better on her next run test.  It would be ashame for her not to make it because of 2 mins.  This is something she has been waiting to do for almost a year.  It would break her heart.

MY son is on ship 09, Div 133. He called me today and I also received a letter from him today. I was so happy. I thought I was on cloud nine. He also to me that their division is a Grad and Go. It doesn't matter cause I will be at his graduation. I am so proud of him. He sounds happy and he said he really misses us. Thank you God for this wonderful day. I love my son so very deeply. He said he passes his swim test and his academic test today as well. I pray God will keep him strong and in good health to endure the rest of Boot Camp.

Yeah, my fiance said he was a grad and go as well. I was really sad because that means less time to see him, but at least I get to see him at all! Congrats on hearing from your son & his accomplishments. :)

Hey guys, I got a letter today! My SR says they're half way there, and Division 133 is working on their flag and t-shirt design. Exciting, since we'll get to see that when they graduate! My SR made a few friends, I'm hoping some are children/SO's of you fine ladies. I guess my SR is in Head Crew, so he gets to clean toilets. (does this mean I won't have to when we get married? maybe I can just be like, "but honey, you're so good at it!" ;D )

 

Anyone else get letters/phone calls?

I bet you were excited to read your letter.  You got a lot of information in that letter.  My son gave me no details about what they are really doing....just about the food and PT...LOL...I guess he will write about the good stuff later.  He never was one to give many details....Even in his one phone call he just said it was ok and that not what he had expected...he was so worried when he left that I think it was a relief for him so anything is better then what he had him self thinking....

Now I will wait for another letter...though I did tell him to write to his sister and niece and I would get the infor from them...he doesn't like to write and he said its hard to write 5 or 6 letters since he would be saying the same thing...so I said I would be ok with out getting a letter but he should try and write at least one short letter to all who has written to him if he could....yeah mother trying to have him do the right thing...LOL...that will never change....as for your toilet cleaning...I think they will revert back to their former selves where that is concerned...especially when it comes to that....I can't see my son folding anything when he is home...LOL...I would faint if he did
