What a great feeling to talk to him. He sounded great, and yes a little homesick but he sounded good. He has met some great friends and getting along well. How proud we are of the great job he is doing already, working hard and passing all his PT tests. Feels so good to hear from him that he is getting along well. Can't wait for the next one!!! 04/1/2011 can't get here fast enough!!!

Hi Chrissy  I am a ship 11 Div 118 mom too. My son left from Indianapolis on 2/7 and I just got my first phone call on Monday night. I haven't read all the posts yet but I sure am gonna catch up on them. I was thrilled to find you other moms !

All caught up on the posts now....Hunter green is the color we are suppose to wear to PIR. Shirts or scarves?

We have no one in our family previously in Navy - is PIR formal dress or casual ? I have got 2 letters from my son now and he sounds homesick a bit but I thought it funny he loves the "chow" and he did get a perfect score on his folding and bed inspection....they needed to come look at his room here- b4 he left lol

we are staying also at the Navy Lodge and arriving on the 31st.

Hi I'm a Ship11 / Div118 Mom too... Mushell my son was shipped out of TX on 2/7 too.. I received the letter with the few lines and cried reading it. I finally get a full letter and was waiting for his call..Wouldn't u know it I missed it.. UGH.. I booked my room at the ramada, I've been checking southwest cheapest fights but still looking at the car rentals.. I'm hoping everything goes well..
Hello, I  also have a son on Ship 11 and Div 118.  I have seen people mention ACE rental.  I think they were $18 a day I think.  Not sure where though.  Hope this helps.  Have a nice night.
Hey Bren...welcome to the group.  Good to see a fresh face aboard!  And a Texas Mom to boot!  I am so sorry you missed his call, hopefully you got a letter to him asap so he didnt feel too bad.  I am flying out Southwest as well, those "Wanna Get Away" fares were pretty inexpensive also flying into Midway vs Ohare was cheaper.  I actually got a letter from my guy 2 days ago and he actually said.....quote "I love it, we work out alot, eat good meals and have 18 hour days, so the time is going by quick".  However his letter was written over a four day period....day 4 actually said, I'm having sort of a bad day today, dont feel very good, please write more. Seems like it can be pretty emotional with up days and down days.  But definitely mostly Up Days for him......whew. Also, to the 11/118 group, we need to figure out what were going to do for our hunter green color???  Chrissy099 "our Fearless Leader" is going to have to guide and direct us!!  (I just know she hates when I appoint her with these tasks!)  I'm pretty sure she's going to slug me in the arm when she meets me...haha   All take care

Welcome Bren and Jodi! And thank you once again Mushell for the pressure of what to wear. (But no slugging -I promise) LOL :) I think i am going to wear a green shirt. Jodi to answer your question on what to wear to PIR, i have been reading dressy casual ???!! So i guess nice jeans with a nice shirt is what that means. We also are staying at the Navy Lodge and arriving the 31st. Also got a second letter and he said the food was good and he also mentioned it when he called, i think i may be developing a complex (Is Navy food better than my homemade???) He also was saying how he can't wait to see us and how much he misses us. I can hear it in his letters and when we talked to us he sounds a little homesick too, but then he said the days are going by fast and he likes it. Go figure. It makes me feel better that he is not miserable. Talk to everyone again soon.

It is a rainy day today at home and I am really missing Tan - I am wondering how he is and wondering when the next letter is coming. I can tell Tan is a lil homesick too BUT he is focusing on the positives and counting the days down in his last letter. :-)  When I write- I use encouraging words and tell him how proud we are of him and the other guys as well. Chrissy when he talked about how good the chow was his voice actually went up( almost excited ) then he paused and said "not as good as yours mom" It brought a smile to me too. So no worries it can't be as good as yours :-)

It's a rainy day here too Jodi. Thanks for the kind cooking comments! But i am glad it is Sunday for them, they get to go to church and catch up on letters etc.. I find we don't get our until Fridays. But but encouraging words and upbeat letters will definetly get them through. I always add how proud we are of him also and what a special person it takes to do what he is doing. That all of them oare special. OK thanks thanks now im in tears...LOL but for all of us April 1st is just around the corner. of course easier for me to say from this end than from theirs, but it seems to be going by fast for them which is great! I am so happy that we have the largest group of moms of the divisions! This time i will end with "Go Moms! "

Oh my goodness ladies...It is raining here in CA and the both of you got me all choked-up..LOL  We are in need of another phone call from our SR's...Chrissy we do have the largest group!!!! There are 11 of us here on N4M...Yeah!

About the Hunter Green are we just to wear it or all that will be attending PIR? In my case that would be my parents and my sisters???
