I got a 10 page letter and was very happy with that. Then to my amazement, I got a call from the 847 area code and I knew it was him.  He said he only had like 2 minutes but it turned out to be 6 minutes so that was great!! He sounded really good and said everyone is trying to get their sh** together which they have been getting better every day!  They all get another haircut tomorrow.

In one of my letters I asked about his friends and turns out he doesn't have any friends but he does have 85 brothers!!  That was way cool!!  I feel so much better that I have talked to him though!!  Wow, what a great day!!  Still no box but I'm a happy camper!!!

So happy for you guys !!!! I hope I get a phone call/letter today.

Are your SRs using phone cards to call or are they calling collect. I am still trying to figure out how the phone calls work.

Kenny's Mom I sent my SR with phone cards in his wallet.  Send him one in the mail.  I don't think they can do collect.  Check your caller ID as well for the area code.  My SR said he tried me like 4 times and each time the phone card took 13 minutes to connect the call-gotta send him another card.  They can buy them but I am not sure how "shopping time" works there.

Toni-What a cool statement about no friends but lots of Brothers.  Pretty amazing.  I find it astounding how they can not talk but have somehow formed a bond.  I would love to see a candid video of them working together.

I have not seen my SR on any of the pictures on here.  Oh well.  I asked my SR about picture packages he said they have not said anything about them but that he would buy lots of them so everyone can have one.  I told him to buy the most expensive package-there are only two but the more expensive one includes a "yearbook".  I thought he would want that.

I am proud of our boys and girls.

Why is this group so quiet?  Where are all the moms?  My SR said there are 88 people in his division.  He said they are still having trouble with not paying attention.  He said "nobody is paying attention but me"  lol I bet they are all saying that!

Oh and I did get my letter with the info on it-addressed incorrectly of course.  His box......went to his friend's house-he remembered THAT address.  ::rolling my eyes:::

All is good on my homefront.  I am beginning to relax and write letters and wait on thursdays only for the mail man and ya know what?  He DOES have letters for me.   Much better when you know the routine.

Sorry I don't post much. I don't usually do thid kind of stuff. We received two letters last week. One addressed to just mom and dad. He's really growing so much. I did hear that there were some recruits in the division who were having trouble. I really hope they get it together soon. I will try to pay more attention and "talk" more.

I have been wondering the same thing :-) Where are all the parents of the other SRs in our Division. Maybe they are not aware of this site. :) LOL I get my mail on Thursdays too... Little does the mailman know that is getting stalked. Counting down Ladies !!! We are almost there :-) YAY

maybe the moms don't pay attention either  teehee

I sent pics of the earthquake and tsunami today.

I also started playing with pictures.  Putting them as watermarks on the pages and then writing over them.

I started putting one liners at the bottom of letters.

I am trying to make them more exciting.  I am looking through all his growing up pictures and pulling any out that could be related to water or military and putting funny captions on them.  Sometimes I send three or four letters in a day.   They are really little letters but I am sure he gets excited when he gets a bunch of envelopes.   I wrote him on the subway on little pieces of paper from a pad I carry in my purse about all the people on the train with me.

I need some more ideas  I have weeks left

Those are great ideas!

I've been doing sports score for the teams my SR follows. Also, my SR's mom has been sending him reviews on movies that are out and coming out. :)

I'm so sorry for the devastation that has occurred in your country. Prayers are definitely being sent out to everyone affected by this horrible event. Have you spoken to your SR since?

There is a facebook group - U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command - and they said on there that the SRs were allowed to call their family members if they were concerned for their safety. I'm so surprised that you didn't get a call!

I got a few letters on Wednesday, but no phone call yet since the 'I'm here' call.

Thanks for the facebook info. We received a call from our son last Wed. The caller ID showed pay phone. I almost didn't answer...who calls from a pay phone these days?
