While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

We're very lucky in the fact that we get to come back to the States once a year and then my boys get to come back here at Christmas. We were lucky to have them both here for more than a month this year. Our visits might be more infrequent than some families but we seem to get longer visits. So when I come home this summer I will be there for about 2.5 months, though this is an exceptionally long summer vacation from school because of the way Ramadan and the Eid holiday falls. But I'm not complaining except for the fact that my husband will not get any vacation this summer because of the job change, so that is a huge bummer for him! (and the rest of us, of course).
:>O my youngest called and read me a couple of my son's letters! I was thrilled!!
Things seem to be going well for the most part he said.

Wow - that is great that you get to be home for such a long visit this summer. Maybe we can get together after you return? I can only imagine how difficult it must be not seeing your family as often as you would like. It must have taken some time to get used to.
I am very happy that you got to hear about some news from your son. It is comforting to know that they are ok. Have you been able to convey any information about the use of an international phone card? My son told me that he had to purchase an additional card while he was at boot camp and that they were pretty good for the spend and that they were international to boot. Hopefully your son is getting some of that information so that you can hear his voive soon!

That would be great to get together and compare notes on "the boys" this summer! It is still hard even after all these years when the time comes to leave but we really enjoy our 'concentrated summer time'. I'm hopeful that with my husband's new job that we will be able to make 2 trips home a year, which would be great!
My mom sent my son another phone card and I'm hoping and praying he gets to use it soon! :>)
Right now I am concerned with the situation in Bahrain and how that will affect my travel plans. I think I will need to make alternate travel plans to leave out of here if they can't the situation sorted, as that is where (Bahrain) we leave out of. I told my husband that there was no way I was going to let a few protests get in the way of me getting to PIR!!! LOL fingers crossed they get it all resolved.

Oh Traci,
Please be careful. Getting here is very important indeed, but staying safe is more important. I am guessing that you have alternates to consider? How frustrating that there are obsticles in your way. I will be thinking of you and would appreciate you keeping us posted on your travels. If there is anything that we can do to help, please let us know.
I have not had another phone call yet. Ryan pretty much told me that I would not hear from him for another 3 weeks. I am hoping for a privelege phone call, but when I think of my goofy son, he probably won't get one! :0)
Countdown continues to PIR. Just a short time now. I am getting more anxious every day.

Stephanie - KISS? Bawahahahaha - saw your photo on facebook! We had to pass on those tickets - we have been to Sugarland {<3} and Tim McGraw (who looks mighty fine in bluejeans) and have tickets to see Alan Jackson on Friday - dad is taking the youngest to that, though. I may just drive to Austin to see the middle child.

I was showing my age for sure. It was a good concert. I got some great pics from my phone that I will try to put up at some point today on FB. I am wiped out. I don't bounce back like I used to. I got in at 1:30 am and was pushing the snooze on my alarm clock this morning for about an hour and a half starting at 5 am. I made it work work - reasonably on time - and am feeling much like the walking dead. I think I will have to go home and work from there. I could use a night to rest! OMG - I just realized that I didn't write to my son last night. I sent off 7 letters yesterday and only one was to my son. Wow- shame on me. Starting to letter write now. (I could use tonight to rest up!! Esp. since I have plans Thrusday and Friday) Oh my aching head.

You go girl!! Rock on - sounds like you had fun, and that is the important thing. I wish I was going to a concert or 2, but i'll be packing up boxes and moving things up the road about 5 miles. Sometimes I think an 'around the block" move is harder than a cross country one. Oh well, it'll all work out in the end I'm sure. My husband will just have to live amongst boxes until I get back from the States. :>)

I will be good to go after a restful night. I think I am simply going to go home at lunch time and throw on my pjs and work from there the rest of the afternoon until I can finally cat nap at 5pm.
Yes, Traci - I think a close move is worse than a far one. If you are close, you just think you can pick up everything and transfer over in a short distance. For a longer move, you start throwing things out and getting rid of things that you realize you don't want or need anymore because it is one more thing that you have to haul! I am sure that your husband will do fine amongst the boxes for a littel while!! :0)
Hope your Thursday is ending nicely too!
