This week is hell week.  Last week was study week.  Next week is Marlinspike and then Battlestations.  Then graduation!!  I got 2 letters this week.  My daughter said that the Chief is letting them write on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays now.  She is home sick but seemed to be doing really well.  What's your son's first name or initials and I'll ask her to make sure she gives him a pep talk!!!!

@rfin18 - funny I just received another letter from my son. He sounded a little more motivated in this letter. He also mentioned that this week is "Hell Week" and they get woken up at 3am.  Apparently there is four inspections, 1-test 2-live fire (Gun Range), 3-Drill Practice, 4-P.T. test. Not sure if I that is what he is saying in his letter, but I think so. They also start performing for 4 graduations, so I am assumming this friday they are performing. So lets hope we get some pictures :) He said the RDC's are very strict but lenienent if people are following orders.  He said the food is good (Surprised, he only likes Mike n Ike and sugar, sugar, sugar).

I still have not bought my airline tickets. I did reserve my hotel room though, its at the Comfort Inn, I think I got a good deal $65.00 ea. for two rooms compared to one room at $99.00. Includes complimentry breakfast, and shuttle to Navy graduation.

I am staying in Gurnee at the Country Inn Suites.  Those rooms are $76.00 a night, and also have breakfast and a shuttle.  Apparently taking the shuttle is supposed to be the way to go.  I know when we went to graduation in September for my daughter's boyfriend's graduation we sat in traffic for over an hour just trying to get to the base.  We had stayed at the Navy Lodge that time and they didn't offer a shuttle service.  That is funny about the food.  I don't think your son had much of a choice not to eat sugar from what she says!  Their Chief won't let them eat junk food!!  I'm glad that he sounded better in his last letter.  It's got to be a relief for you!
Thanks :) I dont know why, but I am worried about these weeks ahead. Do you think they will have time to write this week?
I hope they will be able to write.  I know they are going to be very busy.  But they are on the home stretch now!!! I just wish they would get another phone call.
Hi everyone, how are you guys holding up? I wonder how the kids are doing?
Our son is in the same div and ship as yours! We spoke with him a couple weeks ago when they earned a call. We heard some encouraging things - I hope all is well with your son, too! We just booked our travel to the Great Lakes RTC - excited to see them become Sailors!
We received a call  approximately a week and a half ago.  My son also sounded good.  I was hoping we might get another call this week but not yet.    Its hard writing, seems like the letters take so long to get here.  We booked out trip to RTC as well ariving on the 7th.
Hi everyone!  How is everybody holding up!!  I got a letter from my daughter saying that this was indeed "hell week." It is the hardest week in boot camp, but as of today it should be over!!!  They were going to have 3 inspections, test number 2, and their first performance should be today, so hopefully there will be pictures on the website and maybe we can catch a glimpse of our kids!!  Next week is the live fire, gas chamber, and firefighting.  The week after that is wrap-up week which includes test number 3 and final inspection and last physical test.  The it's Battlestations and graduation!!  We are on the homestretch now!!!!

Hi to everyone as well.  Also got a letter from my son and he said the same thing...hell week.  He also said that he was bumped from alternate and would be performing today.  Let's hope for pictures!  It would be wonderful just to see them.  Thanks for the rundown of what is next.  By any chance do you know the date of Battlestations for our group?  Take care!

How will we know if they post pictures? and where might I find these pictures? My fiance is this ship/div.

Navywife2be, The Navy Recruit Training Command has a facebook page.  They post pictures on their page daily.  Hope you see your SR.
