Good morning! My understanding is that our guys will have liberty through Sunday since they will remain in GL for pre-buds.  I have a friend whose son graduated in September and then went on to pre-buds.  She said they were able to spend every day with him, but he he to be back for curfew every night.
Not sure where you got your information but the most reliable source will be your recruit.
Hi,Kathiofootball. Welcome.  We're all in the same boat, but this site really helps. Three weeks to go!  My son seems to think our time to visit with him may not be a long time, so prepare yourself just in case.  Better to be pleasantly surprised.  I pray every day, and will continue to.  Its always wonderful to hear that others are praying too.
You will want to stop writing about 10 days out and they will stop writing at about 10 days out also.  Do not worry as this is normal.  As they get closer to PIR they are very busy with several things.  PIR is around the corner and communication will improve a great deal after PIR.  After PIR the guys will have a different address once they move to where they are going.

Hi Proudmom,

I have asked my son who is also in 807 to purchase the video for us, we will also be taking photos that we can send you. I just wrote my son and told him anyone in his divison who's family could not attend are MORE than welcome to come with us for the day. Please private message me your sons info and we will send him an invite for lunch/dinner after PIR.

When your recruit ordered his pictures he could order the Keel and the Dvd,  This needs to be done in advance as you can not order after the fact.  They only process what they have orders for, if you have not asked your recruit to do this yet make sure they do.  It takes a while to get them after PIR but worth the money.  If you expect to see your recruit in the official video you may or may not as it is filmed from the center of the room and the 800 divi are usually at the end.  They are nice keepsakes to have but it cna be difficult to find your recruit when the division walks by the camera.
@Terri...just sent request. Hope to meet your son at PIR.
Good morning!  I got my second letter from my son earlier this week, and he said he is "Grad and Go", although he will be going to pre-Buds which is just down the road.  I was just about to make my hotel reservations/trip plans today.   Does anyone know what this means to their schedule for that weekend?  Will he still have liberty?  Not sure if I should still plan on the whole weekend or not.  Thanks for any info!!  Just for the record, he sounded a lot more upbeat in his letter than I expected - he said they have lost pretty many guys already, and the days are long, but it sounds like they are adjusting and doing well overall.
He will still have liberty, he may move at some time after PIR or he may not move until the following week. He will be able to give you the correct information at PIR as to what kind of liberty he has.  Some will have watch during liberty make sure they are there on time for it.  Yes you can still plan on the whole weekend.
Please read these guidelines and follow them as it is very important and you do not want to get your sailor in trouble.  There will be people out in public watching to make sure the sailors are following the rules.

Liberty is ‘time off’ from the daily routine. Graduating Sailors will be granted liberty to go off-base during the day with their families.

  1. Graduating Sailors may not smoke, drive, or consume alcoholic beverages while on liberty.
  2. Graduating Sailors must stay within a 50-mile radius of RTC.
  3. Graduating Sailors must remain in their complete uniform while on liberty. If they are engaging in physical activity or swimming, they must be in authorized Navy issued workout gear.
  4. Liberty expires at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 8 p.m. on Sunday. No overnight liberty is authorized. Due to security checks and transit time, please allow ample time for graduating Sailors to walk back to their assigned ship prior to the end of liberty.
  5. Families may not enter the base after graduation and will need to meet graduating Sailors for liberty at the main RTC gate.
  6. Graduating Sailors departing RTC for follow-on training the same day as graduation or in a duty status will be granted limited on-base liberty.
  7. Graduating Sailors receive an in-depth liberty briefing prior to their graduation day.
Thank you for the valuable information!!!
Yea For You!!!! Hoping that means I might get a call...please please please...GF got the first call as well. So happy for you!
