How far in advance are you booking your flights? To get the changeable fares, the prices are far out of my range.
If our recruit isn't going to make that PIR date, when would we know? How far in advance? My mom is also going with me, and she's worried about the possibility of changing flights, and then the fees that occur, etc. I'd seriously hate to miss the graduation due to finances

We booked our flights as soon as we got the official PIR date.
We booked ours with Southwest, because they let you change your flight with no additional costs. Any questions just call them and they will answer any questions you have about flying with them.
I had called SW yesterday and they told me that while they let you change your flight at no penalty, you will have to pay the difference in the flights. So technically, it COULD cost me $$$ if I don't find out a week before (7 days required)...
I am worried as well. We are just planning on making the 15 1/2 drive from NC to IL. Our recruiter told us not to make plans for quit some time. (some recruits may not pass some tests on time and have to grad. a week or so later than planned). Some recuits get sick and prolong the grad.
We are waiting. We will go ahead and make reservations but until we know for sure...standing by. I hope someone tells me I am misinformed.
I am booking the flights this week, after I figure out if she is an automatic grad and go because she has A school outside of Great Lakes.
My round trip is 321 if I do non refundable and upwards to $1k per person for refundable, we have 3 flying, no way we are doing refundable. Even if she changes, it is still less expensive to do change fees than book non-refundable. I checked all airlines, and they all were the same price for direct. We are coming from Dallas, driving not an option since taking Son out of school already one day for this.
