OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I'm in the same boat, literally. My husband (ET-NAV) got orders for the USS West Virginia. He's left a message for his instructor and he will check it out. Based on talking with other wives, I think we'll be moved to VA while our husbands go to Kings Bay for C school. Though I don't know for sure, I guess each situation can be different. As soon as I hear anything I'll check back here, and if you hear anything post here so I can know too. Thanks!
And PS, I'm Kathryn, sounds like we could be meeting soon!

This is amazing! I know your Husband :) He is a friend of my Husband and they are in the same class. Funny I get to meet you on here first. My Husband said he will be asking their instructor about the details tomorrow at class so I'll just have to wait till then *sigh lol. If I hear anything in the meantime I'll be sure to post it on here as well and then of course if we find out anything on Monday. My name is Danielle by the way, pleasure meeting you :)

I love being able to meet people here, I'm glad to know someone else will be where I'm going. Since the subs crew has shrunk to about 100 sailors for the refit there won't be many other wives/families in our shoes. Have you looked at housing? Are you going to stay with on-base, or off-base? I've been apartment hunting most of today and there are some alright places out there, so we'll see what my husband thinks.

Yeah, I poked around on NavyOneStop last night and it didn't seem too bad...But I've lived in some pretty shabby places. My only issue would be with the size of the housing. We don't have kids so I'm certain we won't get any of the big places, but even the two bedrooms are smaller then what we have now and that worries me a little. I don't know if they move married people into the one bedrooms, I hope not since they are SO small! Me and my Husband talked about where he would like to live and he said it depends on how long we are going to be there in Virginia. If the Boat is going to be there for some time he wants to try and find something off base possibly. I haven't done any off base looking yet though. I wish they would let you have more then two pets in these places. It is becoming very frustrating because we already have a cat and a dog and we need to get another doggie companion for the one we have right now (he has been so sad since we left home and the fur ball friends he had there).

Oh I was talking about the Norfolk, VA ones being pretty small. We were originally planning on moving into housing when they were sending us to Georgia, they looked really nice, but they changed his orders to Virginia instead.

No news yet :/ After searching all over the net for phone numbers and then calling those and gaining more numbers, he finally found the two he needed. He texted these to your Husband yesterday. Mine also found a news article that said the reason it's in drydock but didn't list how long it's supposed to be there but that it began being worked on early 2011 sometime. One of the phone numbers my Husband left a message with called back while he was in class...And the instructor said the Boat would have to be in Virginia for at least another 6 months for them to move us wives there with them. If it wasn't they will just have us wait for them in Georgia.

Ok, some news is better than the nothing we had before. My husband also said his orders were messed up becuase they didn't list C-school. I guess the detailer forgot and they will get new orders with the extra schooling in GA listed too.
And on a sad note, I don't think I will be able to move until the end of June anyway. I'm having some legal delays with getting permission to move my son out of the state. His father is not playing fair and I'm going to have to go to court and crush him. But I'll know more in a couple weeks. I haven't lived near my husband in a year and I do not want to have to wait another few months.

Yes, something is better then nothing. I'm sorry he isn't playing nice...I have a friend who is going through the same issue with her little girl's daddy. I hope it goes smoothly though so you don't have to wait and can be reunited with your Husband sooner.

So Zech just told me we're going to be Fast Attack now... I'm pretty bummed, the Navy hasn't been so good to my family. More changes, and not what we wanted to begin with. I realize its what the Navy needs, but just when I get used to something, it changes again. Ugh, did the same happen for you and your husband? Or are they letting him stay with the West Virginia?

Same thing. He told me today when he got home. So far everything for us with the Navy has changed at least once, lol. I guess I should just start getting used to it. I'm a little bummed because he would have been home for almost a year and a half...But I figure we were going to be in Virginia for pretty much two years anyway, what is another two? We won't know what Boat he is on now until the orders come in, which the instructor said might be after their graduation possibly. So looks for the moment I will be in Groton a little longer. How are these constant changes going to effect the issues with trying to move out of state with your little boy?
