ok ladies i have some news..may not be news to some of you but my son actually graduated high school with a friend that graduated bootcamp a few weeks before my son left. i msg him on facebook and asked about when i could expect a letter from my son and he told me that he actually had been reading letters from friends and family for two to three weeks before he was allowed to write home. he told me to "keep my eyes peeled cuz i should be gettin something soon." made me feel better to hear it from someone who has been there and went thru what our boys are going thru and can keep me up to date. i notice i am the only one staying at the Courtyard Chicago Marriott how close are the hotels you guys are staying at from there?

it really good to know.. i still havent recieved any letters from my husband yet  .. but do u have any idea when they call is it private?  i miss two private calls today . i just wish it wasnt him calling me..... i was working and i leave my phone in my locker room..... im not sure if he was calling me or some other person cuz im not sure when are the days  they get phone calls??..... by the way my husband birthday is this saturday ..my daughter and i will l be cuting a cake for him...  i miss him soo much !!!

Hi stingyb21, that's interesting because my son also graduated high school with a friend who graduated from Navy bc  at the end of Feb. I have talked to the friend on FB also. He said it wasn't so bad, and it was encouraging because my son prepared himself for bc physically and mentally, and his friend said bc should be a cake walk :) But I'm still waiting for a letter.... may tomorrow.... I'm sure once we get those letters we'll feel better. This friend is at A school at Great Lakes, and we're hoping that he'll have some free time while my SR is on Liberty so they can get together. They're best buds and haven't seen each other since January.

I keep wondering, though, that if they fill up divisions in the order that SR's arrive, then ours were one of the first filled, and there are people getting letters from divisions with higher numbers, so is there some problem keeping our guys from writing? Just wondering.....

I'll be at the Ramada Gurnee/Waukegan, not really sure how far that is from where you'll be, though.

Robin i too had the same thoughts on the filling up the div and the others getting letters. Matt assured me that its normal and that is what i am just going to lean on. He told me to keep my eyes peeled so i feel we should get something by the weekend or mid week.

Also, how far is your hotel from courtyard chicago marriott? i dont see anyone else beside me and my family staying there but have been told that its nice hotel

My sons friend is also doing his A school at GL as for my son i am hearing that his could possibly be in san antonio and not GL as we thought when he left OH San Antonio would be a blessing my moms family is there and its much closer to us

I really want to get together when we get there. I sit and wonder so many times during the day if our sons know each other. how close will they become and what they are going thru.

yes i knw when we get the letters no matter how big or small we will feel tons better

I too am praying my sons friend has some time to spend with us while we are there, these two were never best friends but their graduating class was very small so they were all pretty tight.

PLease let me know as soon as you get a letter

stingyb, I just googled our hotels. If I got it right (Courtyard Chicago Marriott in Waukegan?) we'll only be about 3 miles apart. The Ramada where I'm staying does host a meet & greet on Thursday night before PIR from 6-8 pm. I'm not sure if it's only for families staying there or any Navy families. I'll have to try to find out and let you know. Maybe you could come there & we can meet lots of N4M's there :)

I also feel that this is the week we will get letters. I will let you know when I get one, and please, will you do the same? :)

I hope your son's school is in San Antonio, that would be great for you! I also hope you can get together with his high school friend. I know what you mean about the high school class being tight. We live in such a small town that his graduating class only had about 30, so they were all pretty close with one another.

Robin, i will most definately let you know if/when i receive my letter. I dont knw if you've been reading the other posts on other divisions but its heart wrenching, some of the girls are having a hard time and some of the guys.  I am just ready to get my letter to know mine (and your) are doing well.

I dont know much about my hotel i have never been north of louisiana ever!!!! my uncle travels alot and he told me this hotel was a good one

i would love to come to the meet and greet if its open to others that are staying else where that would be nice.

I know that there have to be so many more in our division than that are on this site,

i thank you for talking with me it makes me feel so much better like i have a friend that KNOWS what i am going thru.

my son and i have always been close. i battled breast cancer last year and still for the next 5 years..it was tough on my son but we know only God holds our futures so this time away from each other for me has been tough i just pray its a growing experience for him,

talk to you tomorrow afternoon to see if you have received mail and let you know if i have

no letter today :(_ _ _, how about you?

I called the Ramada, and the Meet & Greet is open to anyone, not just guests of the hotel. It will be Thursday before PIR from 6-8 pm. Hope to meet you there!

Also, I think I'll start a Ship 12 Div 158 discussion on the PIR 5/6/2011 group page, I think it will make it easier for other 12/158's to find us.
