Hi, my son's boot camp's journey is almost over (done 4-15-11) and I can't believe it. I miss him so much but it has gone quickly. Glad you found the site...it's a goldmine of information and the camaraderie is so comforting.

Hello,

My son is also in Ship 7 Div 175.  Just received my Box today. Look forward to chatting with all.

Welcome Cablecar59!  Slowly but surely, as more family members find out their SR's ship and division, they will join us too!  Have you receivied your official form letter yet?

Yes we recieved our form letter the other day. When will I start recieving regular mail from my son???
My daughter is in this Division as well. She shipped on 29 MAR 11 and we just got our letter yesterday.

Hello Navy Moms:  I received my sons form letter yesterday with about three lines of writing.  He can't wait till 5/20/11.  Me too!!!   When do the phone calls come?  Are some calls earned?  If so, what do they need to do to earn a call?

Phone calls are maybe week 5 or 6 and they can call after they complete Battle Stations and get their NAVY ball cap.

Hi Cms,

From what i am reading in the BootCamp group, they get 3 calls, the "i'm here" one possibly midway through and the "i'm a sailor".  I have also read that f they do something good or if they fail or get injured they will also get another call.  I finally received my form letter too, it seemed like it took forever.  Can't wait for May!

Hi CMS.  My daughter is in this group, Ship 7, Div 175.  I got her form letter today.  My daughter didn't leave til 3/28.  I was starting to wonder if they had gotten her PIR date wrong, but, the letter says 5/20.  Yea!  The letter was the first bit of acknowledgement that yes, she is there, and yes, she's doing ok.  I got a letter right back to her today!  Keep in touch.

Hi CMS!  my son John is is this group!  Havent heard anything from him yet, just his form letter with basic info.  Looking forward to meeting all the families on here!  He left 3/23 and grad date May 20th.  I keep hearing no news is good news.  My brother is retired Navy, and was a recruiter - said they are so busy now and have so much to learn.  I have been writing every day since he left, and started sending letters right away.  The no communication is very hard for me - even when he was in college we texted everyday.  Anyone else having child withdrawal?  Very proud but miss him like the dickens!

Hi Wendy,

Welcome!  My son is in this division as well.  All we've received so far is the "Box" and the 'i'm here phone call"   Can't wait for our first round of letters to start arriving!
