cmom i got a call tonight too from my husband! same division! He says he has met a lot of great guys! I'm sure your son is one of them :)

I haven't received a letter yet from my husband..it got lost in the mail apparently so when I saw the number, i picked up crying saying my husbands name(good thing it was him and not a telemarketer ;] ). My mind is at ease. So glad you got a phone call and two letters today!

Thank you so much. I have been so lost about what where ect. All these things help so much. Would love to talk to any other moms out there. lol  Will keep reading so I don't ask questions already asked.

ryans mom - don't worry about asking a question that has or has not been asked - Just ask!!  At some point we all were asking and still asking questions!!  That's about all we can do!!  LOL

Just remember we are here to support each other!!

I just got another letter today!!  WOO-HOO!!  He did say everyone is getting the "crud".  He said his lymph nodes were swelled but throat was not sore and no fever so he was ok!!  LOL

Said they had been marching in the rain and snow!!  Also said to send a couple of soft Kleenex in the envelope as all they have is brown paper to blow their nose!!  (poor guys!!  LOL)  He also mentioned the division was starting to get along better - but still needs improvement - Someone was goofing off and they all got IT after PT (on the 28th I think??)  I sure hope they can get it together soon so we can have another phone call!!

Did anyone else hear anything?

I am looking forward to mail tomorrow when our SR letter arrives. CMom - sorry to hear about your son being ill. I would imagine since our son is in the same Ship/Div he likely has it too. In the phone call he made to us, he spoke of several in their div goofing off and not really trying to "get it" to come together as a team. Like you, I hope they figure it out soon since they will be faced with Battlestations before you know it.

We are staying at the Navy Lodge - maybe we can meet up while there?

Not too many commenting here lately, and my son is ship3/149.  I got a call last Wed, and was so hoping and praying that Wed. would be their night to call. Wrong.  Our first letter came on Thurs. so maybe tomorrow will be the day for letters.  I really thought that they would be calling home more this far into BC. My son also mentioned on the ph. and in the lettter that there were some that had been sent back because they couldn't get it.  How sad that they all have to be punished for the actions of one or two.  It is all about teamwork and I hope they get it right soon.

I'm sure they will get the hang of teamwork soon enough. My daughter is mortified that people still haven't grasped the teamwork concept. It was always drilled into her at home and at school. Many of her high school projects required teamwork, as well.

If you ever watched Private Benjamin, Stripes, etc...it's ALWAYS been about teamwork. Think about it...one weak link in the field, and our loved ones can be hurt or killed. I, personally, am glad they all have to be held accountable for each other.

Patti - I totally agree!!

I know they go thru a lot of emotions - heck - some of them its the first time away from home!  I hear the first half of bc is just learning to work with others the second half is about trusting who you are working with!!  I'm sure they will get it together!!  Some just catch on quicker than others!! LOL  Lets just hope our SR's can help the others (and that they are not the ones goofing up!! =o)

One of the letters I got this wk said our division (150) had a busy week - they were going to the shooting range for marksmanship,then starting firefighting class, he also mentioned (30th) was         PI / DMI , 2nd PFA  scheduled (31st),  Marching drill on the 1st.  I sure hope they all did well!!

Sounds like they are all fighting the "Ricky Crud" (cough and sore throat ) but no fevers!!  They are also getting to write on Tues and Thurs now not just Sunday!!

Just think more than half way thru!!  Woo-Hoo!  I just wish my SR was not leaving on Sat early morning after Graduation - I wish I had more time with him before he leaves for A school!  I will plan on going to the air-port to visit with him until his plane leaves but its not the same!  Oh well, I know he is excited to be done with bc and on to his training for his job!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

My brother is in Division 150. He called the other day and said that a lot of SR's have pinkeye too. Ben is going to A school after graduation also. But after that he will have 21 days at home with us before he gets shipped out to Hawaii. Hopefully your son will be given some time off too.
Hey hate sounding dumb but couple of basic questions- How many people are they allowed to have at graduation? How can I get the info about the lodge? And do they get any time with us after the ceremony? yeah I know I am totally out of the loop. Someone take pity on a mom in the dark.

ryans mom;

They are allowed to write 4 names down for PIR (graduation) however, once all those that have "tickets" go in they allow others to go in - this should not be a problem for 4.29 as there are only 9 divisions graduating that day.

The Navy Lodge link is;

https://www.navy-lodge.com/

1-800-NAVY INN

The only catch to the Navy Lodge is once PIR is over, your Sailor will need to go with you to the lodge and show his or her ID.  If you are not navy you have to have someone in the navy "sponsor" you.

As far as how much time after graduation - that just depends and only your sailor will know or can tell you - it will all depend on where he will be for his A school.  Mine will be going to Pensacola and told us he was told that they only get day of PIR - then back by 8PM then he will have to pack and about 2am will be bussed to the airport.  He doesn't know what time the flight will leave - I figure I will go to the airport and wait with him so I have more time to visit. Here is the link to the graduation schedule;

http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/grad_day.asp

Hope this all helps!!

Cmom,

Guess your sons A school is the same as my daughter's!!! She wasn't positive if they were Grad and Go or not. I'm gonna hang around til Sunday, however. Too much to see in Chicago to miss the opportunity!

My daughter said the men don't like her cause she's always telling them what to do and how to do it. She's tired of everyone messing up. If your son complained about someone like this, I'm sure it's her lol

She also wrote that the men are doing well w/the flag stuff...can't find her letter atm to remember word for word. Thankfully, she hasn't gotten sick, "just" the knee thing. She NEVER gets sick for more than a day since she got her tonsils out, so even if she does, I have every faith that she will rebound quickly.

I'm sure they will meet at A school if they haven't already. Now, that would be cool since WE already talk!

Patti;

For sure!!  What rate is your daughter?  My SR is CTN -

He hasn't said much about the "girls".  I don't really understand - Is division 151, the sister division to 150?  I know my son has said a lot of the guys in his division are very book smart but no common sense and tend to drive him crazy - however, the phone call yesterday he said they are finally starting to "get it".

Does your daughter have a job within her division?

Where are you staying for PIR?  We are staying at the Navy Lodge, 2 queen beds and a kitchenette for 65.00 night.  I wasn't sure when my son was leaving at the time I booked and so we are booked to Check out Monday - but did ask if there was an early check out fee and was told no.  I plan on going to the Ramada for meet and greet - not sure about the hubby yet - depends on how tired he is.  LOL

I can't wait to meet everyone that I have met here!

Hope your daughter feels better soon!!  I know it is a bummer to think you are letting your team down - but, they all have to learn to help each other get thru... so maybe this is a good thing for her division!?! Maybe they will see how much she helps them when she is 100% and they will all start to step it up?!
