Hi, My name is Cyndi and my son is in this division.  I thought it would be nice to help us find each other more fast this way if we are looking at only the division.  1 1/2 weeks in now.... No news is good news!!  Always remember that... I wonder how they are doing in their PT and IT!  My son had worked out a little before going in, but still had a belly.  He'll probably lose bout 10 lbs!  LOL  It's all good.

Hello Cyndi, my daughter is also ship12 div162. I hope we hear something REALLY soon!

Hey Cyndi,  My son in also with this ship/div.  I received the "box" and a brief letter with the mailing info and grad date.  I'm wondering if it would be safe to get plane tickets now or wait for how many more weeks?  I cant wait to hear form him.  I've already sent 2 letters, I know they can only write on Sundays but we are a close family and we are missing him.

Hi CaseyB and SCNavyMom2011!  So glad to meet you both!  I know what you mean, I too, wish we could hear from them.  It's just terrible not knowing what they are going through or how they are feeling about being there.  My daughter just went through all this and then got sent to separations in week 6.  Just came home yesterday.  So now I'm getting some privy info on what he's going through.

Regarding buying tickets, as long as they are refundable it would probably OK, but for my experience, I wouldn't cause I had to pay 400 extra to change our tickets when she got pushed back a week, and now another 400 to change it again since she came home!  I don't want to over-worry you, but really, I'd wait until about 2-3 weeks before graduation.

I need to write another letter.  I just wrote my 1st one.  they should be getting out letters by the end of this week.  They start trickling in slowly and sometimes they don't get our letters until about 3 weeks after they start.  Remind them that they need to drink drink drink their water and work together as a team as much as possible!!  No fighting or they will all get punished.  And no sneaking out to make phone calls, cuz they WILL find out and everyone gets punished.

Have a great night girlz!!  Cyndi

Cyndi, I think we are going to wait a few weeks before also ( just in case ).I'm pretty sure we will be able for find a hotel somewhere. It might not be as close, but thats ok. We are from a small town in SC and my daughter has always been so sheltered! The only time she has been away from home was when she graduated high school and she went to the beach with friends.I didn't do very well with that either...lol.I'm thinking theres a good chance that she will be coming home soon, but she might surprise me and make it! All I can do is wait and worry.

Good Morning girls!

CaseyB I'm sorry if I scared you about booking.  I was referring only to plane tickets that it was too early.  Actually for hotel and car reservations it is fine to reserve anytime cuz you can change them for no cost, usually even to the day before the event.  So the closer you can get to the Navy base, the better, from what I'm told.  I booked  before at the Ramada, and I think we will again unless we want to do the indoor waterpark hotel (it's alittle farther out).

By the way, since there are both males and females in this division, it's an integrated division.  Don't worry, they don't bunk together or anything.  They do some exercises together and maybe some other activities.  My daughter who got sent home was also in an integrated div.  She said the integrating and de-integrating several times a day took away from their overall time to get other things done (like an hour or so).  They have separate compartments across the hall from each other.  Cyndi

Cyndi,

You say your daughter got sent home :>( what happened?  I'm trying to get the hang of this site hopefully we will find more parents from this ship/div..  I saw somewhere about the scaft idea, like it , but not crazy over the color choice (lol).  Anyhow glad you created this group.

Are all the divisions intergrated?  Do you happen to know how they group them?  Does it have anything to do with their area of study? Well must run for now hopefully will chat with you soon, Its funny I run home everyday and check the mailbox......... I know its too soon but I know I will eventually recieve something.

Hi ScNavyMom,

Yes, she got sent home in her 6th week!  Can you believe it?  She was really bummed.  Had some trouble with her legs and kept getting set back.  She never really practiced running before bootcamp and her body was just not primed in that area AT ALL. Also, she fainted from not drinking enough water.  Once they exercised before breakfast and that's when she fainted.  She never had any trouble with pushups or situps.  She did more than the guys sometimes!  But the running she didn't prepare.  Once they thought she had asthma, but was just breathing hard and trying not to limp during the runs.  She also tried to disguise her limping so the RDC's wouldn't notice and send her to USS Tranquility (sick bay) Anyway, she got a medical discharge.

No not all the divisions are integrated.  Some are just guys.  But all the female divisions are integrated.

Well, talk to ya later.  Cyndi

Well no letter yet today.  Have you ladies received a letter yet?  I'm really missing my son today...  It takes about 7 days to get a letter from GL to CA, so I guess it could be any day now.  :-)  Maybe tomorrow!!!!!
No letter or call yet! Praying we will hear something today! Is anyone's SR staying in Great lakes for A school?

Guess what!  I got our 1st letter!  His first line read," Life her really isn't that bad.  I thought that I would be waking up in a cabin in the woods.  Nothing like that. (LOL  So funny!  What ever would possess him to write a statement like that!  haha  He says the part I really dislike is waking up and making my bed!!"  ( Too funny!) - He is TERRIBLE at making his bed.  I was wondering how he would do at that.

He says his bunkmate is really cool and reminds him of his best friend back home here in CA.  He's from Ohio.  He says they all get along pretty good.  He says sometimes they piss off the Petty Officer Glover because they are so social.  But it never caused an IT.    (well, I hope it never does!!!) He didn't date the letter, so I have no idea where he was in his training, but it's probably safe to say it was about 7  days ago..  :-)

Hope someone got a letter today!  If not, hopefully it will be tomorrow!  :-)

PS. Casey: Yes, Chris is supposed to be in A school there.  He is an Engineman.  what is your SR's job?

I'm so Happy that you got a letter! It makes me feel better knowing they are making friends.Maybe you will get a phone call today! :-) My daughter is( or will be ) OS( Operations Specialist.)I'm pretty sure she is getting yelled at alot because I've never known her to keep her mouth shut!lol
PRAISE THE LORD I got 2 letters today!!!!!!!!!!She said it not that bad yet. They do alot of drill practice, the food is pretty good. She said she is sorry for leaving her car in such a mess and she promises she's not that gross anymore.lol.Her dental appt. is coming up so she will have some teeth cut out.I thought this was funny, the first thing she said was I love you mama and miss you lots.Has my tax money came back yet?I want a new MP3 player......I could just see her standing there talking to me.
